Question about Wacom Intuos3 Graphic Tablet

1 Answer

My Wacom tablet has not been registering pen pressure at all.. I have downloaded the new driver, reset the Preferences multiple times, restarted multiple times, and restarted photoshop multiple times and the pressure is STILL not being used. It has in the past but this is a normal occurrence. Normal resetting the Preferences just fixes the problem, but for some odd reason that is not the case this time. The tablet seems to be working fine and does read pressure sensitivity in Wacom's program, but not in photoshop. I absolutely need this to be solved ASAP please!

I bought and uploaded Photoshop CS4, and, all of the sudden my pen doesn't work. The erasor side works but the point doesn't. I have done a clean install with the new drivers and it still doesn't work.

    Adobe says:

"You intermittently lose pressure sensitivity when you use your Wacom tablet and stylus, after turning on pressure in the Brushes panel under Shape Dynamics in Adobe Photoshop CS4....

Wacom is working on new drivers for full compatibility with Adobe Photoshop CS4. Please check the Wacom website at www.wacom.com for updated drivers."

    Wacom says:

"This is a bug with CS4 and is known about by Adobe. CS3 doesn’t exhibit this issue. Adobe is aware of it and they are currently working to resolve this. It also doesn’t hurt to make sure that your Wacom tablet driver is set to the very latest."

I've found no answer, and I too really, really need the sensitivity for sketching and illustration-work.

I have had the same problem across 4 different computers, 3 different wacom tablets (an old serial port one, a graphire4, and an intuos3), 3 versions of windows (XP home basic, Vista home basic, Vista home premium), and 3 different versions of photoshop (7.0, CS3, and CS4). I have found each time that if I open Flash, and turn the pen pressure on in that program and then go back to Photoshop the pressure will work again for some reason. I have no idea why, and this was even before Adobe bought Flash. My dad has CS4 without Flash so I cannot test that out on his computer (which currently has the pen pressure problem and we have not been able to get it to work yet, although it did work originally until the computer was rebooted after the initial install).

Close the program, and open it with the pen -- not the mouse.

My Graphics Tablet Pen Keeps Clicking When I Hover It Over The Tablet Without Touching It, How Can I Fix It?

This sovled my issue using a Mac...
1. Download the latest driver from Wacom http://www.wacom.com/en/CustomerCare/Drivers.aspx
If you already have the pen tablet uninstaller utility, run it. In my case there was a Bamboo Fun folder with a Bamboo Utility inside the applications folder. If you cannot locate it, you need to run the installation of the new driver. Then go to said folder, open the utility, select All User and Remover preferences. THEN select "Remove pen tablet". You will essentially remove the driver you just installed.
Then RESTART your computer, and proceed to re-install the same driver. Issue should be solved.
If not, contact Wacom customer support. 800-922-6613
That fixed it for me. Hope it makes sense.

Pen acts weirdly

Firstly check that the Pen Tablet options in the Wacom control panel are set to "Pen Mode" it may be a good idea to set the pen back to default. This is shown in the attached picture. Secondly the tablet preferences file may be corrupt. Use the following procedure: Do a Search or Find for the TABLET.DAT file and delete it. The file should be in your Windows\System or Windows\System32 folder. Then restart your computer. When the tablet driver loads it will create a new preferences file with the factory default settings. Lastly perform the tablet test procedure as per page 35 of the manual (link below). http://www.wacom-europe.com/int/downloads/brochures/manuals.asp?lang=en Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

That happened to me yesterday. What I did was I went to the wacom site here: http://www.wacom.com/downloads/drivers.php, selected my tablet make and operating system, and downloaded the driver update. I installed it and as soon as it was done my pen started working again. Hopefully this works for you too!

Wacom tablet won't recognize pen

Hmm. I've had a similar thing happen with my tablet. Have you tried removing the tablet pen from the list of tools in tablet preferences and then adding it to the list again before checking the 'About' section of the tablet pen set-up and clicking the 'diagnose' button there in? As that worked for me when my tablet pen was not working. The pen was recognized by the tablet after that.

Wacom tablet stopped working, blue light on.

Hey I had this problem too with my Bamboo too, I'm not sure if it was anything I changed or whatever but either way the blue light was on but it wasn't registering the pen.

I found a way just minutes ago to fix it however!

Go into 'start', 'all programs', then look for 'pen tablet'. Hopefully you should have this. If not then download the latest driver for your tablet from the wacom website and that should install it.

Next choose 'pen tablet preference file utilty'. Then under 'my preferences' choose to remove. Bingo! All was well in the world again.

This worked for me so hopefully it will for some of you guys too! Good luck!
