Question about GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven
When i turn on my GE profile microwave its shuts dowm and i have to reset the clock but it still does not mork. It does not trip the cuircuit breaker. I tried to unplug it but i still get the same results
The magnetron is bad. We had a GE service rep check it out and he said that it need to be replaced, The magnetron is leaking and interfering with the control panel. The part is under warranty but it would have been 185 to replace. Our finally died, so we solved the problem by buying a Hotpoint for $140 (made by LG).

Based on your problem description, you probably have a bad control board and the cost to remove and replave it would be more than a new micro would cost so.. I would encourage you to consider replacing it...
