Question about Palm Tungsten T3 Handheld

1 Answer

Palm Tungsten T3

I just finished replacing the battery on my T3 (a task I have previously performed successfully) and my Palm works fine EXCEPT, it no longer recognizes opening and closing the case. Could I have dislodged something while doing the battery replacement?

I erased ALL data to start as clean as possible (and following your post, I did it again) and then synchronized with my desktop computer. Same results... it still does not recognize opening and closing the case.

If you have cleared the data and the issue still persists the second step is to reload the firmware.if again the same problem persist then it should be the hardware issue.

You might be able to find a charger on Ebay too.

Reset problem with Tungsten t3

Could be a loose battery connection. Or perhaps a bad battery. If you think you are up to it you can check your battery connection yourself. The E had a soldered connection -- difficult to replace. The E2 had a socketed connection -- easy to replace. I do not know about the T3. There are "take-apart" videos on pdaparts.com. You may be able to find a replacement battery on eBay.

Palm tungsten not switching on

Make sure that it has a full charge. I have been having problems with it not turning on as well, but it sounds like a different problem. I have bought a new battery from ebay and installed it. It is holding a charge great, but still isn't turning on all the time. I think the prob is with the datebook or something else. Good Luck!!!

T3 sync with Outlook works except for Tasks

A hard reset of my T3 and sync with 'Desktop overwrite HH' on all Outlook conduits seemed to have resolved the problem.

T5 synco with Outlook except Tasks

Hard rest resolved problem for me. I just posted yesterday a similar problem with my T3. While everything else was syncing fine, the Tasks from Outlook would not sync. After I posted my question, I (accidently) did a hard reset on my T3. So I set all Outlook conduit settings to 'Desktop overwrite HH' for first hotsync. This somehow corrected the problem with the Tasks, and all outlook tasks appeared on my HH. All sync's seem to be working fine now.

1 palm + 2 computers = successful hotsync?

Yes and.. no.

It is possible to have one Palm synchronized to 2 PCs (I do this with my T3), just make sure that you don't end up with any "overlapping changes" - items that change on both machines.

However, since Syncing takes a full backup of the Palm, having two completely different sets of data on two different machines is complicated at best. If you are are not careful you could lose all your info by accident. One way to get around this would be to put everything on on the T3 and use categories to separate work and personal items - which is what I do.

However, if you are dead-set on keeping all of your work stuff in one place and all your personal stuff in another, I would recommend that you get a second T3.
