Pardon my question; but what do you mean everything works fine? Have you attempted to attach the speaker system to an other device, such as a Receiver, DVD player, TV, etc? First check and see if the System works on other electronics and if it is working, then you go back to your computer and start from there; and I assume "everything works fine" could be the computer. The Altec is one of the best systems out there and their quality superior. It is rare to get a new Altec in a defective state as they do a great job on quality control.
Hi names Rui try downloading the sound driver here http://www.computerdriverfinder.com/altec-driver.php you will find all the latest sound drivers for altec lansing in this site if it still doesn't work try calling costomer service so they can provide you with better solutions.. try to dl a driver 1st if all else fail that your last option.....
The solution is actually quite simple, due to a design flaw. Altec lansing designed a rather cheap mini din plug-in which can either be replaced or repaired depending on your skill and patience level. Your ground contact is fine BUT the positive contact is not making connection due to the fact that the plastic housing has broken away and pulled the contact with it. This can be super glued back into place or just replaced with a new mono minidin plug-in.

is the system working fine exept the sub?
my guess: the headphone jack works fine then the speakears are too
if soo then the sub amp is bad
or some connection is torn
try opening the sub and see if everything is hooked right
and if soo then the amp is the problem
every electronics shop can fix this
