Question about Whirlpool Dryers

1 Answer

My whirlpool clothes dryer will not start.

It is an older model #le6880xsw1 front loading electric clothes dryer.
After setting the timer, I can faintly hear the timer running. When I hit the start button nothing happens.

Also while trying to figure out how the dryer might be assembled I put the dryer on its side. when I sat it upright again, I heard little things falling.

Can you help me trouble shoot this dryer? I put a new belt on myself last year, but forgot how I got the thing apart.

Where can I find a manual for this on line?

I appreciate your help on this.

Thanks for your help. After I figured out what I was looking for, I found a broken door clossed switch. I original thought the door closed switch was some how part of the latch that secures the door closed.

This should be an easy fix now.

I'd sure start by making sure the belt isn't broken. You can usually see the belt with a flashlight after accessing the panel (some are in front, others in the rear) - don't go probing around bare armed without unplugging the unit....

if your thermal fuse is blown you will not recieve heat. if you put your dryer on sense load it will keep running because it is not sensing that the clothes are getting dry which in return your timer does not

My front loading dryer Whirlpool Duet GEW9250PLO will not come on even after resetting.

check for electrical power if you have 220+ then check the door switch, jump the wirers if necessary. If switch ok, then move timer to 20 minutes and press start--if timer ok then you must have a broken wire in the wiring harness. Good luck.

More than likely the belt for the drum or the door switch is faulty. What is the model of your whirpool?
