Question about Shanling CDT-100

2 Answers

Transport malfunction When I place a CD on the turntable and lower the top cover, the CD sort of "wiggles" a bit on the 'table but does not rotate, and after about 15 seconds or so, the motion stops and "No Disc" appears in the front panel window. But if I place a CD on the platter and leave the top cover open, the CD will play and all functions work. whether through the top-deck pushbuttons or via the remote. Help! Thanks for your time, Phil Teslow

In my opinion, spindle plate is pressed and when top cover lowered there is not enough / required gap between optical lens and CD so laser is not being focused to read data properly.
Please hook a flat screwdriver under spindle plate and turn it very carefully so spindle plate pushed upward little bit as shown below picture....hope this will work.

There is a micro switch that the cover operates when it is closed, it is either broken or defective, take the top apart to locate the switch.

The turntable quit turning

The root will depend a bit on your microwave model. A few things to try:
  1. Take the (probably glass) tray that is rotated by a spindle in the middle. there should be a shaft with some sort of indented head matching the backside of the turntable. Is it covered in old multiply-nuked spaghetti sauce or other food cruft? If so, wipe off what you can, spray on some Simple Green or similar and let it sit for a while, try putting a washcloth with scalding water on it for a bit, whatever will soften up the gunk and let you wipe it off.
  2. Try to turn the shaft. Will it move at all? If grippable, can you gently grip it with a pair of pliers and get it to move at all? There may be a gear train under this to let some small motor do the turning with enough torque, so don't force it. All you're trying to do is see if the shaft has some wiggle to it and isn't physically stuck in place.
  3. Check the rollers - usually there's a ring with 3 or 4 small rollers between the carousel tray and the microwave cavity floor. Make sure that the rollers roll. if not, clean them or work them to get them rolling again. usually this part comes out and can be thrown in a bowl of soapy water to soak for a bit without harm.
  4. Many of these carousels will detect if something on the carousel is hitting a wall, and either reverse direction, or stop. This is since the inside is square, but the rotation area is round, so something sticking out on a diagonal at cook time may hit a wall. These mechanisms don't want to force the turn - you might overturn or break whatever is being heated, and make a mess. If that's the case, you might see if the shaft will turn with no carousel plate on top. IF so, something was stuck.
  5. beyond that will go into the specifics of the microwave model and how it's set up. I hope this may be of help!

    Good Luck!

After my THIRD Ion turntable had the arm-lowering problem...

I rotated the platter counterclockwise about 12 times and it worked...for now. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it wasn't a fluke.

The unit will no longer turn on. There are cd,s in the unit that I want to remove. What is the best way to go about this?

there are 6 - 8 screws that hold the top cover on the unit. Once you have those removed lift the top cover off and you should be able to access the dvd turntable you should be able to rotate the turn table to remove the various dvds. Then you can replace the top cover and holding screws and dispose of the unit as you see fit.

NN-S951BF after it starts it has troublr truning

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

In some brands, you have to cut the motor cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

It may be that the wheels on the support may be a bit dry. You can use a tiny amount of cooking spray or cooking oil to try to lube it.

Petroleum-based lubricants are not advised in food preparation areas such as the inside of the oven.

You'll want to be sure the support and the floor of the oven are very clean before applying the spray.

If that fixes it, great, but if it fails again in a short time, then the support needs to be replaced.

Left channel very low / static interference

if you wiggle the cable does it make a difference(more static, improved level, everythings fine)? if so its a cold/broken solder joint on the rca conector output. rmove the top and unplug the circut board from the transport unit.BE CAREFULL OF THE SMALL RIBBON CABLE DIRECLY UNDER THE TRANSPORT) use a small jewlers screwdriver to push the clip forward to release the wire. push it back in during reassembly the same way. remove the circut board from the bottom of the chassis and look close to where the jacks are. wiggle the jacks and you should see where the broken trace is. Scrape 1/4 inch of epoxy off the broken trace in each direction and solder over the clean trace/conection. If there is no difference when you wiggle the cables than it is probably the op-amp on the output.

The belt has come off how does it fix back on?

first place the belt onto the bottom of the turntable, it will be kind of snug but not very, replace turntable onto centerpin, remove rubber disc, spin the turntable slowly and look thru the opening at the same time, on the right side you will see a gold colored post, that is what you want to run the belt over, just pull it away fron the turntable and around the post

The belt on my turn table came lose

01- Remove the rubber cushion.
02- Remove the Turntable Platter
03- Place your drive belt around the ridge inside the platter
(Make sure that it is not twisted)
04-Place your Turntable Platter back on the unit
05-rotate your platter until you can see a brass knob through one of the round holes in the turntable. (Your belt must be placed around the brass knob) The best way is to take a toothpick and carefully slide it under the drive belt and then pull it out enough that you can place it around the knob. I had the same problem and the above works. If you still have problems getting it back on contact me 352-377-1828......

Technics 1200

there is a post that goes into the black knob.. that post has slipped down into the table. you need to open up the table by taking out all the screws and taking off the feet (there are a few more screws under the feet too), locate the post and push it back up through the hole... be careful not to bend anything by the switch.

dab a bit of glue on the post and place the knob back on. Done!

CD is stuck in the Numark CDX cd turntable

hello, there should 4 little black screws on the top of the cd tray when it is removed from the deck. two of them are on the rear top in black plastic. the other two are holding the silver plate down as well. remove those four screws. the top should slide off. after that is off, you should be able to see how the disc is being secured. careful not to pry any thing it should all come apart. good luck.
