The most important thing that you need to know is the plug set-up. Almost all printers use a male A- male B connection. I have included a link to show you what that looks like.
Now the other options are quality and length. Get a cable that will reach from your computer to your printer with some slack but not too much. I usually stay under a 6 foot cord. The quality is dependant on you and your budget. The higher the quality the higher the price. The main quality selling point is less interfierance from outside sources.
