hi if only a horizontal line across with no video anymore, you have bad either vertical ic or no dc supply b+( vertical ic ) or no output dc coming from the ic. if it is not totally a horizontal white line and you can see a video you must check leak or bulged capacitors at the vertical section near the vertical ic. hope this can help good luck.
THI IS THE INTERNAL CIRCUTRY FAULT BEST YOU
call the service person and dont try to open it other than in side of TV SET HAVING Hazard of electrical shock be handle most care fully .
and check video board and all.
From your description of the problem, there seems to be a Cold solder in the Vertical Oscillator or Deflection Coil circuits. If you know Solid State electronics, and are good with a soldering Iron, sure u can do this yourself. U
gotta trace the Vertical section components and locate the cold solder.
In most cases it will be a loose connector from the Deflection coil to
the main PCB.Also check for the soldering of the Vertical output IC.
TV FINE UNTIL 2 NIGHTS AGO HAVE HAD 4 YEARS, STARTED HAVING A FOGGY SCREEN WITH WHITE HORIZONTAL LINES. HAS SOUND
A FOGGY SCREEN WITH WHITE HORIZONTAL LINES. called retrace lines please check

A set that has only a 1/2 inch bright line through the middle of the picture, from left to right, has a vertical output IC that is not working correctly. If the 1/2 inch line is in the middle but going up and down, then the horizontal yoke circuit has stopped working. These are problems which should be looked at by a qualified tech, but if the set was purchased 6 months ago then it should still be under the manufacturer's warranty.
If you mean thin white lines, this is is an indication of a problem in the Horizontal Drive ckt. most likely the Damper Diode has opened or shorted, this would cause the visual symptom and then the set would shut down, unfortunately this is a problem best left to a qualified technician to repair, hope this helps.
