How to fix my acer aspire 5740G model lap top sound distortion, When it with Speaker connection its clear, Without speaker its more distorted, any one can give solution?

This is due to the internal speakers which might need replacing, it sounds better with external speakers because they are plugged into the headphone socket which shows the internal speakers are damaged, get them checked out.

No sound out of speakers

(a) Check your audio hardware in Device Manager. A conflict might've resulted in the audio hardware failing.
(b) Check the Volume Mixer in the System Tray. The volume might be down to 0 or it might be muted.
(c) Try putting a pair of headphones in the headphone jack to see if audio works at all. If it doesn't work with headphones, you can assume it isn't the speakers themselves and might be audio device and/or volume related.
(d) When all else fails, try uninstalling the audio hardware in Device Manager, then reboot the PC and force Windows to reinstall the device. That fixes a lot of problems like this.

Hi , Im trying to make my external volume controler work om my Aer 4520. Its a litlle ring that puts volume up and donwn

Ebv65,

External speakers for your laptop are very easy to hook up. They should plug right in to the external speaker outlet on the laptop. Your acer 4520 has a Headphone/speaker/line-out jack with S/PDIF support. First you need to check all your volume levels within the control panel (located in the sounds and devices folder) to make sure they are up. This solve your problem. Thanks for visiting Fixya.com. Have a great day.

Problem in external speaker when connected to acer 5738Z LAPTOP

The audio jack on the laptop is for headphones and most likely cannot it cannot deliver sufficient power to drive unpowered speakers.
Check the audio jack with headphones, if the volume setting is high and you still can't get sounds from the headphone and the mute switch is not selected then the audio amp in the laptop is faulty.

No sound come through external headset or desktop speaker

Sometimes the headphone jack has its own volume control separate from the internal speakers. Check the levels in the volume mixer.

If you press the FN key + F8 key they are the ones that toggles the speakers on and off. There is nothing wrong with your speakers.

Speaker problem

Check if there are any hardware conflicts. Go control panel - system- hardware - device manager. If there are any yellow exclamation marks against the listing of your laptops hardware then you need to install the correct driver. If all the drivers are installed make sure the sound is enabled. Also make sure the sound is not muted and that none of the input levels on the sound mixer are very low. Note the sound will not be heard in the speakers if there is a plug in the headphone socket - make sure nothing is broken off in the socket stopping it from working.
