1) Move your XBox closer to the router. If you are connecting wirelessly, move your XBox as close as possible to your router. The farther away they are, the slower your connection speed.
2) Purchase an ethernet cable and plug it in. An ethernet cable can connect to your router and be plugged into the back of your XBox. This is the best way to utilize as much juice as possible from your router and get you the connection speeds you need to play online. Ethernet cables run about $20 depending on the length and quality, but its a great investment if you are doing a lot of online gaming.
The Xbox 360 Console is not compatible with a dial up connection or a phone line. It will only work with an Ethernet connection and some sort of high speed internet. You can also use the wireless built in the new 360s or purchase a wireless adapter for the older models if you have a wireless router with high speed internet in your home already.
As an internet gateway yes, as a receiver for your 360 no. You will also need one of the newer 360s with onboard wifi or an external reciever make for connecting 360s wirelssly. Once you have this its just a matter of setting up your network settings to find your wireless router. If you have additional questions, let me know.
Are you connecting to Xbox live with a wireless connection or a wired one? There's not much to change if your going through a wired connection other than paying for a faster connection through your Internet Service Provider. If you're going through wireless, first try and change your router settings to NAT Open. Here's a guide on how to do it. It's recommended by Microsoft to have an open NAT instead of a mixed one. I know that when I have my xbox set this way, I connect faster to games in MW2. There's other things you can do with your router and xbox to try and get the best signal. But some are nitty gritty and hard to understand if you're not big on technical stuff. Good luck with this and trying to prestige!
Enable UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) on your outer.
is a standard that can help routers communicate effectively together
(and may eliminate the need to try the following steps). If your router
supports this setting, then you should enable this setting to see if it
Enable port forwarding on your router.
xbox live has recently added three ports for wireless internet.
if you know how to open ports (protocols) on your wireless router, then the following should be open (enabled) for your xbox 360s IP adress:
Basically i know its a rip off but if u wanna use wireless with the xbox 360 u need to buy the official xbox 360 wireless router which is about £60.There is another way if u dont use wireless u can connect the xbox 360 to a router or the phone line then go to your windows firewall and set it up manually.Hope this can help you .Joe stevenson
Well, you arent supposed to connect them together to play xbox live. You would need to connect them to your wireless network and both of the xbox 360's wouod need to have a wireless adapter. With these ,you could connect to xbox live, or use system link and connect the two.
