Network connection failed when trying to connect to xbox live

I have a Linksys WRT300N Router. I'm trying to connect my Xbox 360. The port it is plugged into in the router is not lit up,it seems to not be reconizing it. I called Linksys they set up a port for my Xbox. It still does not detect a network connection. Can you please help me with this problem, is it my Xbox?

Are you connecting the XBOX to the one of the 4 ports of the router?

Have you tried using a different Ethernet cable to connect your XBOX to the router?
If you connect your XBOX directly to your modem, is it working?

Please update me about this matter.

You may want to try the following:

Use a different ethernet cable.
Reset the router and xbox by powering them down for at least a minute.
Run the connection wizard under Xbox Live.
If the test passes you should be connected to the web.
If not you might have a problem with either the router or the xbox.

Trying to get XBox 360 Live to work and connection fails....I'm at a loss trying to figure out what to do

Check your XBox (network settings) and make sure it's getting valid IP from the Linksys router.

Normally, opening ports (port forwarding) on the router for that specific game should resolve this.

Hope this helps! Just reply back if you needed step by step guide.

Setup your Xbox to a Wireless Network

Xbox game consoles can be connected <span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span> to a router<a href="http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/routers/g/bldef_router.htm"></a> for wireless access to the Internet and Xbox Live. Follow these instructions to set up the Xbox or Xbox 360 connections to a wireless home network.<br /><br /> <ol> <li>Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter<a href="http://compnetworking.about.com/od/hardwarenetworkgear/g/bldef_adapter.htm"></a> to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet sometimes also called a wireless network bridge must be used. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 is also designed to work with certain Wi-Fi <i>game adapters</i> that connect to a USB port.<br /><br /></li> <li>Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -&gt; Network Settings -&gt; Advanced -&gt; Wireless -&gt; Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -&gt; Network Settings -&gt; Edit Settings."<br /><br /></li> <li>Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.<br /><br /></li> <li>Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)<br /><br /></li> <li>Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. Note that the standard MS Xbox Adapter supports WPA while the standard Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter (MN-740) only supports WEP.<br /></li> <li>Save your settings and verify the network is functional.<br /><br /> On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router, and the Connect Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live.<br /><br /> On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.</li></ol> Tips: <ol> <li>Even when your wireless connection between the Xbox and the router is working perfectly, you may still experience difficulty connecting to Xbox Live. Just to confirm you are using a wireless connection to hook up to the router? do you have the router model number? Have you configured the correct wireless settings on the 360? Make sure that if you have a key that you have entered it correctly. http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox/xboxlive/getconnected/setupahomenetwork/stepbystep.aspx
also you can use the xbox support site for reference, use the left side panel to look at wireless settings and other help.

Cannot connect xbox 360 to wireless router

If you use DSL I would also check to make sure you are not being port blocked by your ISP. Some will block you if you exceed bandwidth on a particular port rather than throttling you or shutting you down entirely.

Opening the NAT connection for Xbox 360 working through 2 routers

  1. How do you connect your Linksys router to Belkin router? Do you connect your Linksys router to the Internet/WAN port of the Belkin?
  2. If so, what is the Internet connection type set in your Belkin router? Is it dynamic?
  3. If the Belkin router is set to dynamic IP and if it is obtaining an IP address from your Linksys router(you may check the status page of your Belkin router and look for IP address), then you may need to forward or set that IP address as the DMZ to your Linksys router. Make sure that XBOX is still configured as the DMZ host in your Belkin
Hope this helps!

Xbox 360 wireless adapter connection

Try resetting your router and reconfiguring. Secondly try using a different wireless security mode that the 360 adapter supports. If the router is a linksys, that could be the problem. Linksys has a very common drop problem. I have found that D-Link has better integrity for wireless devices. Also try putting another device on the network via Wireless, if the same result, replace the router. Also, you can do a search on google for wireless router tweaks, to optimize the router for and xbox wireless connection. One more thing. be sure you force an ip address for the adapter in the settings area on the 360. That promises the same IP everytime it connects. Then go into your router configuration and forward the ports for xbox live, the wireless connection may not even be dropping, but a port problem with live while trying to authenticate your game system

The following ports must be available for Xbox Live to operate correctly:
• UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074
