Motorola RAZR V3 Cellular Phone
Problem for Motorola RAZR V3

Display dies, although phone still functional

I'm having a problem with my Razr V3.The display is going completely dark, although the phone seems to be working fine otherwise (ie I'm able to make/receive calls, voice dial is working...) I had this happen 2 or 3 times, and each time the display came back after 5-10 minutes of tweaking with the phone (removing the battery, plugging the power cord...) I have tried to detect some kind of pattern, but haven't been able to. Last time around, with the display working, I left the phone connected to the power cord for 5-6 hours, and the display was fine. 2-3 minutes after removing the power cord, the display died again...
Has anyone had a similar problem? Any thoughts / ideas?...
Thanks a lot!

- Hi all,
I posted the original problem (back in Jan). Somehow the LCD started working again (and hasn't failed since). I think it was a combination of the battery connectors being not so clean, the flex connector to the LCD being a bit loose and (maybe?) the battery dying. I haven't bought a new battery (this one lasts ~3 days without too much talking), but I plan to do so...
For those of any still having problems, if you're courageous enough, there is a fairly good repair manual for the RazR at

Cheers,
-D
P.S. My next phone will probably be a Nokia...

My razr V3 dropped from an astonishing 40cm to the floor, after that both screens stopped working. I opened the screen by removing the four tiny screws in each corner (t5 screwdriver which I didn't have but the smallest of my miniature screwdriver set just fitted), and popping it up carefully.
There a two flatcables, one with a silvery color and a connector with a black piece of foam on it. I think it's the screen signal carrying cable. I removed it and put it back in place, pushing it firmly. After that the screens worked again.
10 minutes of work and a great deal of satisfaction.
Further, the phone stinks.

- Oh I forgot to mention, if you think you have the loose connector like I had, you might try pushing firmly on the top right corner above the small screen, just a bit down left of the word VGA, to squeeze the connector back into place. Saves you opening up the thang.

I happen to Work for a cell Phone accessories store and the number one phone I get in there is the razor. I have fixed many of them I will Take some pictures on basic fixes for it but if your LCD screens aren't working properly and everything seems connected you just have to replace either the screen or the Razor and honestly get something else. This has to be THE BIGGES PIECE OF CRAP PHONE EVER MADE. Which is wierd cause I love my V195.

Motorola produces junk... Made in China... I've been through two Razr phones in less than a year with displays that went bad. I don't think firing their CEO is good enough. Carl Icahn is right - break it into pieces. What a worthless company!

Solution #5 worked for me... My phone fell about 1 foot and the screen stopped working. I used T-5 to take off the screen cover and sure enough the flat cable was disconnected. I just reattached it and it worked fine. Took all of 5 minutes while wathcing the Cardinals whoop up on the Dodgers..haha
