Question about Compaq Presario 5000 PC Desktop
I haven't used my Presario 5000 for "like" 6 months. But I just tried to boot it up and had the following problems. My monitor didn't show anything, but I tried connecting it to another source and it showed, so I ruled that out. When I turn on the power button on the computer, the keyboard lights up (blinks) then is gone. Power on light on the tower stays on, but screen is blank, fan is running, cd is functioning. All ower areas seen to work. But can't see anything on screen and keyboard doesn't register. Any ideas? Bad motherboard? Bad graphic card?
Are you able to start in enable VGA MODE(press F8 when pc is booting up)when menu comes up highlight 'Enabel VGA mode' then press enter.

Firstly the keyboard does blink, but do you hear 2 beeps one then another a few seconds later, if not memory or graphics fault. Are you able to start in safe mode(press F8 when pc is booting up)when menu comes up highlight 'Start windows with last known good configuration' then press enter and it should re boot. The graphics card(if it's not onboard)may need to be removed and re seated, also the memory. Also check hard disk drive ide and power cable.
