The thermal switch was bad. I removed the sheet metal back from the oven and there is a small round part with two wires one on each side. You replace it and bingo the door will open and display will come back on. If you do not have he part you can touch the two wire together and the stove will unlock.

Kitchen aid gas range model kgsa906pss. After using self clean oven door is locked and control panel is out. There is power through the thermal fuse. What else should I check?

Try unplugging the unit for about 10 minutes and then plugging it back in. If the problem persists call for service especially if under warranty.

I have a kitcheaid gas range. just used the quick, self-cleaning cycle/2 hrs. 30 mins./went out came back no display and door will not open/

The temperature cut-out thermostat at the back of the oven has failed. You will need to pull the oven out and remove the back panel. Thermostat should be at the top in the middle. Once replaced oven will be back to normal.

the hi-limit thermostat has been tripped. it needs to be replaced and also make sure that the cooling fan is working ok. thermostat is located behind the back panel. looks like a disk the size of a quarter with two wires on it

After using the self-clean cycle, display panel went black and oven door stayed locked.

Happens alot dont feel bad , self clean mode runs the elements at 500 deg. to cook off everything possible , what happens is the cabinet gets to hot and heats saftey temp. fuses until they go out and they are not resetable. they are always located in different areas of ranges but usaully in the back. you can ohm them out to check them if you have a meter.let me know if you have any other questions.

Self Clean

This problem is well documented on the net and a common problem with running self clean on these ranges. There is a thermal fuse on the back of the oven box (under the outer sheetmetal skin.) It overheats in self clean mode and shuts off gas and power to the oven/display (like it's designed to do in a fire.). IT's a $40 part and not hard to do yourself. All you need is a screwdriver to remove the sheetmetal and part. The replacement part # # is 8300802.
Just fixed mine this week..

Oven shut down

Please call directly to KitchenAid/Whirpool and speak to the 'executive management team' - when I spoke to them they said this wasnt a common problem, they were not aware of the fault.. EVERYONE with this fault please call again.

Replacing the fuse each or not using the self clean function is not a fix!
