Won't play, won't eject (discs are still in it)
Shows "Err" on screen
What can I do?
On my 2002 xterra 6 Disk player.
It locked up on me.
I was able to fix it with key in the off position. I pulled the Radio fuse and put in back in.
The fuses are located under the hood on the left side right behind the battery.
Then I turned on the key and the radio. The CD began working just fine.
Drop down face plate, there should be a little tiny hole that you can stick a paper clip in to eject the cd.
This is classic failure (like a number of Nissan problems) that is due to a poorly designed take up screw (whatever that is, right?) design in the 6 CD mechanism of these (Clarion) changers. There are a number of stereos around this year (Infiniti too since they are made by Nissan) that have the same issue for the same reason.
After researching this, I located the needed parts and repaired my unit (not for the faint of heart, this is somewhat akin to cuckoo clock repair, a very complicated electro-mechanical device). I am an electrical engineer by trade with over 35 years of experience of working on electronics.
In any case (and here is the bottom line), I would be happy to repair anyones ailing changer ("err2" with clicking/chugging) for $100 plus $10 return shipping to the lower 48. Contact me at rentwist ( at ) comcast.net if interested.

Bob

Your problem solving isn't the solution to get my cd player working. If it played I'm sure the discs would come out.....................
faceplate doesn't just remove.................have to tear dash open to remove stereo system.....................tried faceplate, seems to be all one piece.......................Nissan dealer tells me i have to replace stereo system!
Radio still works!
need a fix
