You have to press the connection buttons, one on the controller and one on the xbox 360, the one on the controller is located on top by the triggers next to the cartridge insert port right by the left button, it has 3 wavy lines next to it, when you press it, the controller will light up and go in circles. After that quickly press the button on the xbox 360 located under memory unit A, to the left of the disc eject, then the xbox 360 lights will go in a circle then automatically connect. If it doesnt work at first, try it again, but quicker.

My x box will play cd's and dvd's but not games. do you know what i can do to fix that. when i put in a game it says to put disc in an x box 360 console.

Here's how:

1. Carefully open the Xbox by removing the torx screws and then releasing the clips that hold the case together. The clips and molding pieces all come off easily; pry them open carefully.

2. Load the flash firmware disc into the DVD drive and power off the Xbox.
3. Disconnect the DVD drive from the SATA cable and note the brand of drive used in your Xbox. Currently Microsoft uses Hitachi, Phillips and Toshiba DVD drives in the Xbox 360. Only the Toshiba and Hitachi drives have firmware updates.

4. Connect the DVD drive to your PC with a cross-wired SATA cable interfaced to a compatible SATA port. Confirm that the video cable is connected to the Xbox so that it won't turn off during the flash process.

5. Hold the two loose wires of the cross-wired cable together and press the "Start" button on the Xbox. Separate the wires immediately when the green light begins to flash on the front of the Xbox. The light will begin to flash quickly and the drive will begin to spin as it enters mode "B."

6. Turn the PC on and allow it to fully boot from the DVD drive. If Windows appears to fail the boot, eject the DVD and it will finish booting. You've successfully flashed the drive.
7. Reassemble the Xbox and enjoy playing the backup of your favorite game. Sources: http://www.ehow.com/how_2316522_flash-xbox-dvd-drive.html

Setup your Xbox to a Wireless Network

Xbox game consoles can be connected <span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span> to a router<a href="http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/routers/g/bldef_router.htm"></a> for wireless access to the Internet and Xbox Live. Follow these instructions to set up the Xbox or Xbox 360 connections to a wireless home network.<br /><br /> <ol> <li>Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter<a href="http://compnetworking.about.com/od/hardwarenetworkgear/g/bldef_adapter.htm"></a> to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet sometimes also called a wireless network bridge must be used. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 is also designed to work with certain Wi-Fi <i>game adapters</i> that connect to a USB port.<br /><br /></li> <li>Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -&gt; Network Settings -&gt; Advanced -&gt; Wireless -&gt; Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -&gt; Network Settings -&gt; Edit Settings."<br /><br /></li> <li>Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.<br /><br /></li> <li>Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)<br /><br /></li> <li>Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. Note that the standard MS Xbox Adapter supports WPA while the standard Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter (MN-740) only supports WEP.<br /></li> <li>Save your settings and verify the network is functional.<br /><br /> On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router, and the Connect Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live.<br /><br /> On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.</li></ol> Tips: <ol> <li>Even when your wireless connection between the Xbox and the router is working perfectly, you may still experience difficulty connecting to Xbox Live. These issues can be caused by the quality of your Internet connection or the firewall and Network Address Translation (NAT) settings of your wireless router. Additional troubleshooting may be required in these areas to achieve reliable Xbox Live connections.</li></ol><span style="font-weight: bold;">Troubleshooting</span><br /><br /> The built-in diagnostic of the Xbox can help with any falure.Navigate to the <i>System</i> area of the Xbox Dashboard, select the <i>Network Settings</i> menu option, then select <i>Test Xbox Live Connection</i> to run the test at any time. If the Xbox 360 built-in network diagnostic fails with the following message: <br /> <ul><i>Technical configuration error. Please contact Xbox Customer Support.</i></ul> This indicates a network issue requiring further investigation. The Xbox 360 network diagnostic contains the following tests run in the order listed below. Steps for troubleshooting Xbox 360 connectivity issues depend on which test reports the failure. <br />If you have an original Xbox 360 console, you need to attach an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter before you can connect your console to a wireless network.<br /> <b>Note</b> You can use an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter with the Xbox 360 S console. If your wireless router is not near your console, you may get a better wireless signal by using a wireless networking adapter. When you connect an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to an Xbox 360 S console, the console will automatically use the wireless adapter instead of the built-in Wi-Fi.<br /> If you have an original Xbox 360 console, you need to attach an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter before you can connect your console to a wireless network.<br /><br /> Step 1: Attach an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to the back of your Xbox 360 console.<br /> Step 2: If a network cable is plugged into the back of your console, unplug it. Step 3: Check the light on the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter.<br /> If you're using the black adapter with two antennas:<br /> <ul> <li><b>No light:</b> The adapter is not receiving power. Unplug the USB connector, and plug it in again. Still no light? Try plugging the adapter into a USB port on the front of the console.</li> <li><b>Green:</b> The adapter is connected to a wireless router, gateway, or access point.</li> <li><b>Flashing green:</b> The adapter is attempting to connect to a wireless network.</li> <li><b>Red:</b> The adapter is not recognized. Try plugging the adapter into a USB port on the front of your console. </li> <li><b>Flashing red:</b> There is a problem. The adapter might be experiencing a hardware failure.</li></ul><br /> Configure your wireless settings Go to <b>My Xbox,</b> and then select <b>System Settings</b>. <br />Select <b>Network Settings.<br /></b>Select <b>Configure Network</b>.<br /> <ol> <li>On the <b>Basic Settings</b> tab, select <b>Wireless Mode</b>. <br /> <b>Note</b> If Wireless Mode is still not available, there might be a problem with your hardware. <br /></li> <li>Select <b>Scan for Networks</b>. </li> <li>Select your wireless network name. <br /><br />If your wireless network is not listed, try either of the following:<br /> <ol> <li>Try improve the router signal by moving the router position. If you are not broadcasting your wireless network name, select <b>Specify Unlisted Network</b>, and enter your wireless network name and security type. </li></ol></li><br /> <li>Enter your wireless network password, and then select <b>Done</b>.</li> <li>Press the <b>B</b> button on your controller, and then select <b>Test Xbox LIVE Connection</b>. If you successfully connect to Xbox LIVE, you'll see this screen:Choose <b>Yes</b> when you are prompted to update the console software. <br /></li></ol>

Xbox 360 Controller Won't Connect To My 360....

You have to connect the controller like this: Somewhere on the XBox 360 controller there is a button that looks like this, o))) or something like that. Push that button and look at the XBox 360 round lights, they start to flash, that means you have to push the same button on the console. The o))) button should be infront of the console.

Regards,
Max

Xbox 360 issue.

Hello Snarker it sounds like you have a bad AV cable, try replacing it with a different one( It will costs $5-10). If there is still a problem try removing your HDD ( the hard drive which is removed from the top of your xbox 360). If neither of those seem to fix your screen's issue, you may have an internal device that has overheated or come loose, I would recommend try leaving your xbox on and see if red rings appear on your console Like this(they might be in a different idea I am just letting you know where to look) 9ca118f.jpg. If they do you can send your xbox back to Microsoft wait 2-4 weeks and get it back for free.

I hope that helped and if you need anymore assistance please let me know.

Rock Band guitar for xbox 360 stopped working

On the face of your 360 is a little round button that tells the system to search for wireless controllers. Push it at the same time you push the connect button on your guitar or drums. I figured this out after returning two other systems to Wal-Mart.... They really should put this info in the instructions somewhere! Tell me if it works for you guys too.
