In safe mode restore windows to some time earlier (the time it was working fine). it does work.

otherwise re-installtion will be necessary.

Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer Windows Advanced Options Menu Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice select safe mode with command prompt Click start run type cmd press Enter black screen should open DOS mode this will vary depending on your operating system type in net user username For eg. If you want to change administrator password , type net user Administrator It will prompt you to enter the new password. Enter the new password and the password is changed http://wiki.ljackson.us/Control_Userpasswords2 if this fails you will need to Select safe mode with networking to download you could download all of these or just one save them to a usb drive for later use if one fails to remove the password Windows Password Recovery Basic http://majorgeeks.com/CmosPwd_d239.html A CMOS BIOS password recovery tool Editors note: This tool should only be used by experienced computer users. How to switch to admin login on my sons laptop

Sometimes the existing user is the Admin. This question arises every day, and here is my post. Good Luck

Lost Windows password:

  • Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode.
  • Login as other user (if other user is availible) and manage users. Must be an administrator.
  • Reformat computer.
  • Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html

How to break a sign in password

Which Password? Bios Password?Hard Drive Password? Windows Welcome Screen User Logon Password?

Which Operating System? Windows XP? Windows Vista?Windows 7?OK,if you are running Windows 7, Microsoft tightened security on it so you've gotto have a password reset disk which 99% of the people who own laptops withwindows 7 fail to do. It should be one of the first things you do whenyou buy the laptop. Otherwise, you're faced with reinstalling theOperating System or possibly doing a System Recovery.

If you're on Windows XP or Vista try this:

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on andimmediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Safe Modeoption. Select SAFE MODE and let the computer boot up. When it getsto the User Login screen it will show the Administrator userid and the useridfor which you forgot the password. Sign in as the Administrator(hopefully you didn't put a password on it and forgot it too). Once thedesktop appears it will look different, the screen will be darker and the iconsbigger, but this is normal for safe mode.

Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts
When the User Accounts screen opens, click on the userid for which you forgotthe password. Select the option to REMOVE PASSWORD.

Reboot your machine.

The computer starts but nothing appears on the screen with the processor's fan turning normally and the keyboard does not indicate(leds). it goes off normally when it is switched off

Try booting into safe mode by pressing F8 repeatedly until the boot screen comes up. Select "Safe Mode with Networking" or "Safe Mode". Use device manager to see if you are missing any drivers. You probably are so install them and reboot.

Hi, I have a problem with the monitor appears to work but screen goes blank just after password screen comes up. any ideas ?

Hi Friend, As you have mentioned that after typing the password to get into the Windows the screen goes blank.
Please try to login to the Safe Mode, For that, as soon as you turn on the system start tapping the key "F8" and it will take you to the "Advanced Boot Options" menu Select the "safe Mode" and check if you are able to get in
If you are not able to get into the Windows it might be a software issue and for that you have to reinstall Windows on the system again.

Can't get out of being on safe mode

That's a display driver problem, I think. when in safe mode, Rightclick th MY COMPUTER icon, and Click MANAGE click then on DEVICE MANAGER, on the right expand the DISPLAYCONTROLLED and rightclick your device then UNINSTALL. accept all, and reboot normally the cpu, it will normally reboot twice one to detect and reinstall driver, another to use that renewed config
