No fuel or no spark. Quick test: spray some starter fluid into air intake and try to start it. If it runs and then dies, you've got spark but no fuel. If the bike quit with no prior symptoms, check spark plug wire not knocked loose, fuel filter clogged. (You do have gas, right?)

My 1993 gl1500 goldwing does not want to idle unless the choke s partially on. It also surges. If I take off the choke it syops running

Sounds like either the fuel filter is dirty or the carbs need to be taken apart and cleaned of varnish buildup from old gas.

My Yamaha Enticer 340 wont idle off of choke. What could be the problem? I have taken the carb off and cleaned all the jets. It idles on choke and will run off choke if the throttle is at half or full,...

your idler jetsa are blocked ,on this carb their should be an air screw as well so it might not be set right ,this air screw should be about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 a turn out as a rough guide .Now another favourite trick of mine is to open the drain screw on the bottom of the carb then pull the feed pipe off the tank from the fuel shut off and fill the carb with brake and clutch cleaner ,spraw it down the pipe and leave overnight ,this will hopefully unblock any very small jets within the carb body ,Yes i know its a bodge and its not the correct way but it does work on old engine with carbs like my aux outboard or my motor bike .

My 1984 yamaha excel 3 when I start the sled it will run as long asiyou give it more fuel but when you let it idle it dies out it seems to be starving itself of it fuel. Could this be the diafram in the...

possibly, most likely it is either the pilot jet is plugged, requiring carb removal and cleaning, or try bypassing the throttle cutout switch, its two bullet connectors coming off the carb, just unplug them and plug the engine side together, just be sure to flip your throttle before starting ensure it is not frozen wide open, or its just an idle screw adjustment,it's a knob on the carb.

Carbs are clean but suffering from fuel starvation

try changing one by one the fuel filters there could be as many as 4 or 5 one in the carb, on the fuel line to the carb on top of the engine, in the fule line on the frame rail, in the gas tank, even the sock covering the pump in the gas tank. secondly it could be the fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator. a bad pump would cause hard starting ( many cranks befor it turns on) a bad regulator may cause a fluxuation in the idle.
good luck
