Magnavox Blu-ray hook-up to RCA Entertainment series

We are having problems hooking up our new blu-ray to our conventional (analog) TV. It is a 2002 RCA Entertainment series. When we go through set up it asks for VCR brand. Is this the problem, can we configure this? We are trying to use the Audio and Video input cables that came with the machine. Thanks

I've connected my new Sony Blue-Ray Disk Player to my RCA F25645 TV via the three (Red, White, Yellow) composite cables but the screen only says "unusable signal" and will not display the Blue...

The output from the blu-ray is probably component video, where the brightness, blue and red difference signals are the three outputs. Sounds like the TV only has composite video input so won't work. Check the manuals, if you can get a composite signal from the blu-ray then your TV will display it but not high definition. A HD LCD or plasma TV is needed to show the blu-ray films in high definition.

Digital or Analog

This TV has an NTSC (analog) tuner. You'll need a digital to analog converter if you want to receive most OTA channels.

I hope this helps.

Need to hook up a blu ray player a standard tv

No problem. Just use the Composite/Yellow/RCA jack output from the player to your TV.
Most players spit out standard video through an RCA jack while at the same time sending the HD signal out the YUV or DVI port.

Volume does not work.

Good day.
You are possibly right. Audio circuit might got affected. I would like to suggest likewise that you check also if the speaker is busted, the audio IC and if it receives supply from the flyback.

Hook the cable to the back of the unit.. Go into the customer menu and make sure you've selected cable (as opposed to air). Then do an auto-program and that should solve the problem..
