Question about HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook
The problem is on a Gateway model # MT6730. When we turn the computer on, we can see that the screen is coming on because of the flicker of the light change. If we look hard enough and at the right angle, we can barely see the ''GATEWAY'' logo appear. Other than that, the screen looks blacked out and we cannot see the prompts (even though we know they are there!) We have already tried everything possible from using the function keys up to removing the battery, (which tested fully charged and in good condition) and putting back.
My screen is totally black, but I can see my desktop with a flash light. Help!!!

This is a hardware failure of the LCD back-light or a loose connection which requires partial disassembly to verify. Most likely it will require an LCD replacement. If you have an external monitor you can connect it to the video output so that you can see.
