TV remote non-functional

This problem began out of nowhere. I went to turn my TV of with the remote, and it didn't respond. Then, I went to the TV switch manually and it took 3 to 4 seconds for it to turn off. I then turned the TV back on, and the remote worked for about a minute, then the same problem occured. None of the buttons on the control panel wanted to work. I couldn't adjust volume or anything. I just don't get it, Dell products suck!

I have this exact problem with same TV. Did factory reset but that didn't fix it. Any other suggestions?

SOURCE: DELL LCD TV locked up w/screen message "main menu locked"

without a remote and disabled keypad keys, the only other option, is to open the unit up a physically RESET the TV. remove the cables from the power board. i believe it has a phillips head screw. careful when you separate the rear cover from the front cover. there is a board screwed in the lower right corner, there is a connecter and a ground cable screwed to the rear cover. take your time prying on the rear cover. once you separated the two pieces, look for the light yellow board with your AC power source. Unplug it for 30 minutes and repeat the process. while your at it, also look down to the lower left side of the monitor. u should be able to see the keypad. press each button, while pressing, look to see if the button is pressing against the circuit board. it may be loose, try this test, u just may be able to fix your keyboard as well. hope this works out.

SOURCE: Dell 32 inch LCD Tv volume and menue problems

I had the same problem with my tv.No sound! I finally figured it out. It was the speaker wires! Once I changed them to a slightly stronger speaker wire, it worked great! I have sound to my tv and I haven't had any problems since then.

The Sony remote may be working fine. You may have to test it on another Sony TV such as at Best Buy or at a friend's place. Some of the Sony TV's had a bad or defective infrared(IR) board. If the IR board fails, then the TV will not respond to the remote. The TV will work fine with the manual controls, but will not respond to the remote. If you are handy with taking apart computers, then taking out the IR board is not that hard. It looks like a computer memory or RAM board. One can buy a replacement board on the internet or send your bad IR board in for repair. I did just that last week by sending it to a repair service. I got the board back in less than a week and installed it. The Sony TV works fine with the remote now. I found the repair service on E-Bay. There was one in Indiana and one in California. I used the one in California. It all depends on the Sony model, but there appears to be a bunch of models with a defective IR board. Yes, it was really frustrating.

VW37L 37 in. LCD HDTV input button wont work

Have you find out if the problem is with your remote control? For instance, you are able to control your TV using a Universal remote control. My 32" Vizio TV had a similar problem, initially thought it was related to my remote control but in fact the TV didn't respond either to an universal remote control of my SAT receiver that I eventually use to just turn on and off the TV. I've found out that the problem was with a little board on the TV located at the left down corner viewed from the front side of the TV and that receives the signal from the remote control. I found the board on ebay for about $5, replace it and the TV responded again to both original and universal remotes.

Menu button stopped responding

If only one button does not work at all or all do not work the unit may have a lock out feature that would be explained in the owners manual.

Viewsonic n3251w went bezerk!

The button board or the IR board in the TV. A stuck button can cause some strange behavior. Typically, the TV has 3 control lines: POWER BUTTON, FUNCTION BUTTONS, IR (Remote). Try disconnecting the button board, it should have a connector right on the board. If that fixes it, you can leave it that way or try to find a replacement board (not sure where you should look). If it's the IR board and the button board is daisy-chained through it, you will need to either replace it or repair it. Most often the little receiver is bad when there is a problem with this type of board. You may be able to find a Receiver IC, but just know that it has to match the TV. I hope this was helpful and points you toward your destination. Best wishes.

LG Volume to 100 by Itself - will NOT respond to remote

It's hard to diagnose without a model, but, given the problem I would say it is a 42LC7.
If it is, then, it needs a modification in the main PCB. We used to jumper coils at first, now we have to change the main PCB.
It's less than a year old, it's under warranty.
