How to clean out failed battery ''powder'' from IBM ThinkPad 755ce?

Yeow! I removed the battery from my IBM ThinkPad 755ce, and it's got a bit of crystallized failed battery powder at where the battery connects. How do I remove that safely? --and thoroughly??

NOW, if I can only locate the blasted ac adapter.

Thanks Verrry Much ahead of time.

I would be wary of that because it's electronics. Thanks, tho.

Try a rag soaked in very hot water(careful with it) to wash part clean
then scrape contacts with a knife. when all clean
rub a bit of vaseline on contacts then refit battery
I do this with car batteries and have no problem

IBM Thinkpad X60- Charging LED ( Amber) flashes continuosly- battery NOT charging

An incompatible charger could be doing this, as could a failed battery charging circuit in the notebook. It is also possible that the battery is no longer capable of accepting a charge. The universal charger must be able to provide the same voltage as the original charger and have an equal or higher rating for wattage or current.

sorry, the problem is your battery. when lithium batteries, the kind in laptops are unused for a long period of time, they melt down. it may have also destroyed other inner parts of the laptop, you must go to a electronics store to check it out, do not try opening it at home, since there could be hazardous chemicals inside.

IBM thinkpad cec1 stop post task

Let's see what we can do with this one.
It seems you are saying the laptop hangs while trying to boot, and seems not to get that far, that is to the boot stage.
Shut the computer off, and remove the power wire and battery...OK... remove any cards, and remove all memory sticks. Now plug the computer in and turn on the power.. see what it says, if anything. The correct message should be something about no memory installed.
If that message appears, then you can suspect some problem may be with the memory. If you have more than one memory stick, put one in at a time and check to see what the computer does.
There are programs you can download and put on a cd or floppy disk to test your memory sticks. These are free for the downloading.
There are diagnostic free programs to test the rest of the computer, with self-booting programs to put on a cd. These can test your computer.
If all fails, then you may have a bios problem.
Reset the bios by shorting the jumper (on a laptop, this may be harder to get to) on the bios. This will reset the bios to default.
See what it does... if still same problem, then repair is in order or sell as parts...part out, what ever.
