I unplugged the TV for 3 hours... plugged it back in and it still does not turn on. Is there anything else I can do?

This type of problem normally happens due to internal problem in the capacitors .and the board needs to be checked for that to remove the faulty capacitors and replace it with new one.so just get it replaced as if u try to turn it on in this condition it will do further damage to the board as it is short from somewhere.

Try unplug your TV for a few hours then plug back in and see if your problem gets solved. If not It could mean that you have a slightly more serious problem inside your TV usually its capacitors get faulty. You might need someone to come over and repair your unit.

Hi,
TV seems have problem in deflection circuit like horizontal output transistor short or fly-back transformer short.
If you know electronics and have experience of TV repair then you need service manual of this model to rectify problem.
If you don't have experience then I would recommend to call TV tech person.
Thank you.

Modern TVs have an inside device calld protection circuit.

When an internal error , like for example a bbad voltage, a short, or a defective component (IC , capacitors etc.), is being detected, the TV protection circuit will start an automated switch that turns the TV on standby to prevent further damage.

Sometimes the internal safety switch is just jammed because hit detected an incorrect value.

In this case you can fix the problem and wake up your TV draining power from TV completely, by leaving the power cord unplugged for a while.

Try first unplugging and waiting ten or twenty minutes.

If that does not work try leaving the cord unplugged for a longer times, let say two to three hours, to drain power completely and get rid of electrostatic charges on internal circuits.

If hard reset (unplugging) did not fix the problem, that means that the tv must be inspected by a technician.

When GE TV flashes three times, that means that there is a problem with the flyback transformer, the technician need to check the soldering joints at the fyback transformer , or to replace the flyback.

Call the number listed on the user manual to get a qote for a repair. If TV is less than 5 years old, ask also price and modalities for an eventual warranty extension.
This is often cheaper than a single repair and will cover repair expenses for one extra year.

Try resoldering the flyback transformers connections on the board. Its very common for the flyback pins to develope cracks around the pins which can cause that issue. I would check that first with that model.

Thats a very easy repair which is almost always related to failed power capacitors CP150, CP120 and CP114. You can get the RCA repair kit which is the same as the GE from www.tvrepairworld.com the kit is called the ATC221 CP150, CP120 & CP114 repair kit . The kit contains the caps and the CD with instructions for the repair.
