Question about Samsung HLN437W 43" Rear Projection HDTV
Fine, faint lines are always on the main screen but the PIP image of the same channel are completely clear. Could this be the analog or digital boards? Can you help? I can replace either board myself provided I can determine the culprit. Haynes
Shielded digital board is located in the center looking in the back mounted vertically. Slightly heating center with a blow dryer may cause the picture to clear temporarily. There are three 10uf/16v caps that generally go bad in the center lower area of this board C655, C638 and C714, their ESR will generally be very high when cold. You can either replace these caps or replace the board. Caps are an inexpensive but a difficult repair the board is about $350 plus core part #Bp94-00385a and available at places like Vance Baldwin.
