Question about NEC Versa LitePad PC Notebook

1 Answer

Can't get NEC Litepad to recognize new Toshiba 1.8" MK2004GAL

I've bought 3 drives and spent countless hours. I can't get any computer to recognize the drives - even with adapter build specifically for this drive (special pin configuration). I need to re-install OS, but the recovery disks need a formatted drive.
How can one format these drives for this application???? Why won't any utility recognize these drives? I think that the computer should see them as a RAID array, but even with those drivers I get nothing.

I've read on other web forums that the recover disk only works with the original drive partiions. There's a hidden partition on the original drive that the recover disk uses to install the OS (maybe other software too). You'll need to clone/copy the original disk partitions to the new hard drives and then you'll be able to use the recovery disk.

I forgot to mention that the Litepad supposedly only supports single platter hard drives, so that migh be the problem too.

You can also use a 1.8" SSD Zif drive too.

Hello!I'm using Toshiba Satellite L745 (Bought in Malaysia),It does not recognize any blu-ray disks. No sign of them in the 'My Computer'. Is there anything I should install in my laptop to

It does not have a Blu-Ray player, or that's what the specs say. You have a OPTICAL DRIVE*DVD-SuperMulti drive (+/-R double layer) Found here:http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/satellite/L740/L745-S4210/

How to enable Secondary IDE in NEC VERSA M400

I presume you have bought a secondary hard drive and want to fit it to your laptop.
Firstly fit the new drive, it then needs to be initialised, this can be done by running Control Pane, select Administrative tools, select Computer Management. Run Discmanagement and find the new hard drive, initialise it and format it.
That should solve your problem.

It is taking forever to use the recovery DVD to intall programs an a brand new Western Digital Scorpio 250 GB hard drive I bought for my Toshiba M35X-S114. BIOS doesn't detect the hard drive which is...

If it's a 250GB, the recovery DVD needs to format this drive (insofar as I know, Toshiba's recovery disks never uses quick format) - so .... yeah! It'll take a couple of hours just to prep the hard drive before the actual recovery imaging begins, and that's assuming that the hard drive formatted without errors.

If the hard drive has errors (bad sectors), it really could stretch out the total time. I've done a recovery on a hard drive that contained 100MB worth of bad sectors and it took an entire two days to put an image on it. Why'd I do it? I justed wanted to know how long it was gonna take...

DVD/CD-RW-Device does not read any CD'Rs.

The drive must have "died".

If the computer is still under warranty, contact Toshiba, and get it repaired.

If the warranty has expired, take the computer to a qualified technician, who will remove the dead unit, install a new drive, and reassemble the computer.
Cost will be about $60 for "one-hour-labour", plus the cost of the new drive.

I just bought a Toshiba NB205 net book with built in web cam and ever since I?ve had it the computer says ?one of your USB devices is not working or cannot be recognized?

Is that particular message, is it referring to your web cam? If yes, download the driver from the support website of Toshiba and reinstall it on your computer. Here's the link. I searched it for you. http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/driver_camera_chicony_TC40025100G.exe Download the file, save it on your desktop then run it. Another solution is to reformat your hard disc or run system recovery.

Toshiba satellite keeps shutting down

my roomate in college faced a similar problem with his satellite. Unfortuneately it sounds you have very few easy fixes in this case. This is why we always tell people to back their data up (this is often available free online these days for small amounts of data). While there are ways for a sophisticated tech to fix these problems... It is not easy to do without being in front of it and ultimately a huge waste of time. The quickest solution (i know this sounds like alot but it is really quite easy and involves little more than 20 screws) is to remove the hard-drive, purchase an external sata/ide drive and copy the data you need to backup onto a friends computer. You can than easily format the drive with a windows dvd upon replacement in the computer. If no data on the drive is to be missed... You're in luck. Just format it.
