Question about Pioneer VSX-D607S Receiver

Open Question

I just got a Pioneer VSX-D607s A/V Receiver. Its 5+1 surround sound. I have hooked up a speaker I know works to the center channel and one to the rear, and also plugged in the subwoofer, and then connected a CD player. The problem is I am not getting any sound from the speakers. I checked and I put it into DSP mode and turn the subwoofer ON and still nothing. If I hook the speakers into the other speaker inputs (not the center or rear channels), then I get sound, but nothing out of the center or rear, and nothing from the subwoofer. Will these only work if a 5.1 signal is received, such as through a DVD player? The manual says squat about it

SOURCE: looking to connect 4 speakers to the surround back

Series the speakers, they may not get as much power as you would like, but your receiver will last longer.

Make sure that the sound field/programme you have selected is dolby digital not stereo.(On the amp)
You also need to check on the display that is says DIGITAL not ANOLOUGE, as only a digital input, Optical fibre cable, HDMI, COAX will be a digital signal.
If you are using red and white rca connectors, it is not going to work, as this is an Anolouge signal.

SOURCE: Problem for Pioneer VSX-818V-K 5.1 Channels

Test with an surround sound media ie. Blu-ray or DVD)_. Disconnect the front and all other speakers that are working to see if sound from the missing speakers are heard. If this doesn't work then start by tracing and checking all the wires from the receiver to the speakers for bad/shorted/open connections.

PLEASE VOTE IF THIS WAS HELPFUL. THANKS & GOOD LUCK.

How do I hook up speakers?

If you are referring to 5.1 surround you would have to have 5 speakers plus one powered subwoofer. The front left and right as well as your center channel to the majority of the sound reproduction with the rear channel being there for intricate sounds and background noise. The subwoofer will be a preamp output from your receiver. That signal will then get amplified by your subwoofers power amp. Generally subwoofers are tucked away in a corner while the other 5 speakers form a box around your viewing area.

No sound of voice, only surround sound

If you do not have a center channel speaker connected, then in the reciever setup menu for speakers, there should be a selection for center channel that says something like either yes or no. I'm guessing it says yes. Then you need to select "no" so that the circuitry will direct sound specified for the center channel to be reproduced through your front speakers.

Pioneer receiver vsx-d510 sub not working

Rear Surrounds are not supported on this unit, they would be the 6th and 7th channels in a 7.1 rig. I think you mean Surrounds (channels 4 and 5 in a 5.1 rig).

Lets ponder: How is there any relationship between Surrounds and your separately-amplified Subwoofer? I don't see it, unless you inadvertently chose OFF for the Sub definition when you were in the Speaker selection menus adding the Surrounds. Look again.

Yes. It is 5.1 surround. There are 2 front channels, 1 center channel, and 2 rear channels which comprise the "5" in 5.1 surround. The pre-amp output channel for a sub is the ".5".
