SOURCE: RCA D56W20 picture problems
More information is required to properly troubleshoot this problem. How is your television connected when you are watching HD? Do you have HDMI for this, do you have a satellite or digital cable box? For analogue are you using regular coax antenna (cable TV), or are you going through a cable or satellite box?
This could be related to the aspect ration setting. perhaps you ahve changed your aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 or some other setting. If you are connected via HDMI, then the digital signal may be "normalizing" your picture during HD, but reverting back to the other setting.
Check you video settings very carefully. HD televisions are very difficult to tweak properly.

Hi albertogiler,
I am happy to help, you will need to attach a antenna to the tv to pick up OTA over the air signals, depending on your location you may be able to use a set of rabbit ears, I have provided a link to a site that will explain in depth.

SOURCE: Won't recieve digital channels
I have the same type of TV and as soon as i figure out why it also, will not convert from analog to digital ,I can hook up to converter box get all kind of clear channels I am quickly finding out These Sets Are either minor problems or very major problems. They have over 32 different SSB tuner boards, and they all look alike but are not, hookups and connectors are not the same.
SOURCE: no digital channels
This TV is not able to understand digital channels because its tuner is not able to find that band, it works only in analog channels. To be able to get HD channels is needed a decoder box that has digital tuner build in. for a tv to understand HD Channels with analog tuner is to us to try to speak at the same time different languages.
SOURCE: Audio with digital channels, no audio with analog channels
I was getting a constant mono setting for all channels with no option to set it to stereo. I called Sharp, and they said that in order to receive stereo sound, you cannot use a standard coaxial cable. You need an S-Video or HDMI cable. This not only resolves the mono audio issue but also resolves the analog (vs. stereo) issue. Hope this helps!!

For what it's worht I have the same problem , I am currently using a media center PC with a digital tuner to get hd channels through HDMI.
After research I'm convinced the main board would have to replaced> it may cost to much to fix.
