MFW9700SBO Wash machine door is open and latch is down in the locked postion, how do I get it unlocked?

Wait at least three minutes after the end of the cycle before attempting to unlock your Whirlpool washer. The door will not unlock until the motor speed equals 0 and 180 seconds have elapsed since the motor control unit received the "Stop" command. If the water in the washer is warmer than 122 degrees Fahrenheit or the water level is set higher than Wool, Delicate or Hand Wash, the washer must drain before the door latch will unlock 2 Hold down the "Control Lock" button on your Whirlpool washer for three seconds at the end of the washing cycle. Listen, and when you hear the unlatching sound, the door should open.3 If your Whirlpool washer did not unlock at the end of Step 1, press and hold the "End of Cycle" button for five seconds to manually reset your washing machine.4 Unplug your Whirlpool washer and leave it unplugged for 45 minutes. 3 spline screws on bottom front washer cover

good time to clean out the trap since your (t)here.

F28 means your washer is locked and not unlocking. To unlock your washer take off the bottom access panel by removing the 3 bottom screws. Reach up near the latching assembly & attached to the door latch is a little plastic pull lever. Pull down on this lever and open the door. Unplug your washer for 60 seconds and plug your washer back in. If the error re-occurs you need to replace your door lock.

remove the front kick strip, on the LHS you will notice a yellow tag. with the power on on the machine pull down twice gently on this tab. this should unlock the door.

if you now notice the drum is full of water its more than likely your filter is blocked and this is what caused the door not to open.

Getting the door open is the easy part. Finding out why it won't open might take a little doing -- though replacing the door latch is also easy. To get the door open, Take an awl or something pointy and place it in the hole on the small round cover in the lower left front of the machine. Now use this to turn the cover, unscrewing it from the machine. Once the cover is off, you should see a plastic rod hanging down. Pull this rod and it will unlock the door. You can now remove your wet clothes from the machine and investigate the cause of the problem.

Take screw driver while prying on the door handle push down on the latch.

To Manually unlock the door lock system:

1. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.
2. Remove the front lower kick panel.
3. Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door latch assembly.
4. Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear-drop shaped tab.
5. Gently pull the tab down about quarter inch or until a click is heard.
6. The door may now be opened.

Power shd be on, try to hold down 'end of cycle' for 3 seconds, try door after a minute or after hearing a click. IF NOT:

To Manually unlock the door lock system:
1. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.
2. Remove the front lower kick panel.
3. Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door latch assembly.
4. Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear-drop shaped tab.
5. Gently pull the tab down about 1/4 inch or until a click is heard.
6. The door may now be opened.

To manually unlock the door lock system, perform the following steps. Power off the mains.
1. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.
2. Remove the lower toe panel.
3. Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door latch assembly.
4. Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a teardrop shaped tab. Gently pull the tab down approximately 1/4 inch, or until a click is heard.
5. The door may now be manually opened.
