Question about RCA Scenium D40W20 40" Rear Projection HDTV

Funny noise when TV is on

When we turn the TV on it's making a loud noise. It sounds like the fan is hitting something ( best I can describe it ) when we power the tv down the noise stops. We've pulled the back of the tv off to see if perhaps something was caught in a fan, vacuumed it out but it still makes the sound. We also powered the tv up with the back off to see if we could isolate the sound, seems to be coming from the fan immediately in front of the bulb. Using the vacuum, we got that fan to spin to see if it caused the same sound, but it didn't. Any ideas what it could be?

Samsung HLR5064W DLP TV load vibrating noise like a fan blade hitting something, lamp light is one, Tv will light up but discolored

Sounds like a bad color wheel----remove lamp---the wheel faces it--look for missing pieces or the wheel shattered---these are known for the wheel making a loud high pitched sound or even a grinding sound if the wheel shatters.

if wheel bad You Tube has video instructions for replacing it---seen several people able to do this themselves in about a hour. Google the model number to ("color wheel") to locate a replacement on the internet.10_24_2012_3_58_01_pm.jpg

I have a mitsubishi wd-52525- when i turn on the tv, it sounds as if something is stuck in the fan, no picture, but I do have sound.

the aliens laid eggs in your tv while you were sleeping. you have to destroy the television before they hatch. if you watch survivor they will hatch and you are doomed.

Samsung DLP TV is making a buzzing sound. Sounds like something spinning. Can hear it speed up to full spend when turned on and slow down and stop when powering off the TV. Loud at times.

More than likely this is the cooling fan. I have a Samsung DLP myself, and at times, I can hear the fan running also. There could be something wrong with the fan, but I kind of doubt it. Just make sure that the TV is in a spot with lots of ventilation....otherwise, you might have to live with this noise.

Hope this helps!!

Tv won't turn on. tv made a loud noise and picture went funny. When we tried to plug it later,it just kept making a crackling noise.Does it sound like something that can be fixed?

Power supply is blown. Google it, check ebay (with tv model name) or just part it out and get a new one. You can also buy these used for really cheap off of craigslist.org

That could either be the cooling fan bad or the light engine assembly as they both can exhibit the sympton your describing. Can you haer this sound as soon as the power is pushed or does it take a moment. If its instantly chances are its the fan.

Sounds like the cooling fan blades are hitting something (possible worn bearings).
