Question about Saeco Vienna SuperAutomatica Coffee Maker/Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Saeco Vienna not brewing

Our espresso maker is not making liquid coffee. However, it does let water out of the steam nozzle and the coffee grinder works fine. But the ground coffe is not getting any water. I took the whole thing apart to make sure the hose wasn't blocked... Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

I wish I could post a solution, but this is exactly what happened to my machine after about a month of use. I don't see any clog nor a way to get to the moving parts that could create a clog. Unfortunate design.

What would cause the machine to grind the beans but not produce any coffee despite the water tank being full?

Your grinder setting might be too fine. Only adjust while the grinder is grinding -- set to a coarser grind. Have you tried the preground coffee dispenser? Again, use coarser ground coffee in case the sieve is getting clogged.

Coffee may be to fine. To Check, open pill door and press any blinking button. If water comes out then for sure the coffee is to fine.

Grinder blocked

If you have no flow of coffee out of the nozzle tip which is the point that the coffee leaves the machine and goes into your cup most of the time this is not due to the grinder being blocked. Most of the time I find that the nozzle head is blocked instead in which due to the mixture of people that grind there coffee or espresso to a fine grind which ends up fine at first. After awhile though the oil that is inside the coffee ends up sticking to the inside of the nozzle head and starts to gather small particles of finely ground coffee which ends up clogging the nozzle head. If you take a sewing pin or a small needle and insert it into the small hole in the head and clean the head this way you will get coffee or espresso flowing again in no time. You may have to perform this cleaning techniqe more then one time in order to clear the clogged nozzle head. You would clean the head in the way that I described above and then turn on your coffee or espresso maker and see if the water starts to flow out of the nozzle if it did not you would once again use the pin or needle on the head and likewise when you were done turn the unit on again. Just a common question though what grind level are you using? If its all the way to its highest setting turn it down. I will await your reply
Thank you
Rick

There is no water coming out of the machine at all. No error light come on but when you go to make a coffee with beans or pre ground it goes through the process but just dry coffee comes out. Also no water...

For the steam check the end of the nozzle to make sure it is not blocked.
For the coffee run a coffee using the pre ground method but without coffee grounds, if water comes out then grinder is too fine, if no water remove brew unit and clean top shower screen, you might have to clean tube leaving from shower to discharge.

Hello. I have a saeco vienna superautomatic

This happens due to condensation caused by steam developed at the end of the grinding cycle. Make sure that the grinding chamber is completely cleaned and dried before using the grinder.

  1. Turn the whole bean chamber to the right until it can be lifted off the base. This will allow you to clean the grinding wheel. NOTE: Never use water or liquid for cleaning the lower grinding section of this appliance.
  2. Clean interior recesses with a soft brush (not provided).
  3. Wash the whole bean chamber and lid and the ground coffee chamber and lid in mild detergent and water. These items are only dishwasher safe on the top rack of your dishwasher. Wipe exterior with a damp cloth. Do not immerse mill in water or any other liquid or place in dishwasher. Use only non-abrasive cleaners to remove stains.
  4. After completely drying, replace whole bean chamber. Important: when replacing whole bean chamber, screw on completely before setting grinding rate. Turn chamber clockwise (as viewed from top), until it will not turn. Fill with whole coffee beans for grinding and replace lid.
  5. Replace ground coffee chamber and lid, making sure it snaps securely into place.

Water coming out of steam nozzle not coffee output when making coffee

Sounds to me there might be a blockage on the brew unit, and since the pressure is so high it is going through the bypass. Clean the screen and tubes on the brew unit.

Part 2 -Flashing water light - will drain water but will not make coffee

Blinking light often means pump is not delivering water. Possible blockage from corrosion. Can also mean a valve blocked.
Do you hear the pump run?
