Dvd doesn't load (spin)

All of a sudden my dvd player won't spin the dvd. I do hear two clicks regarding when I turn it on like it's trying to load. Shall I send it out for repairs or is there a simple way of fixing it.

Re: dvd doesn't load (spin)

Try to clean the lens with soft dry cotton buds. do not put any cleaning liquid stuffs just clean soft cotton buds or swab. and if u have a microduster(compressed gas for cleaning data processing and electronic eqpt.) much better coz it removes dust accumulated inside the lens assembly. and if still the same, have it check by a qualified services technician.

When loading a dvd it displays, "NO DISK". Is it

There are mainly three motors for most of the DVD players. One to spin the disc we insert in, other to load the laser pickup unit to-and-fro inside it to read the disc and an other one to load the tray mechanism 'in-out'. According to your description, the disc spins inside, and you can hear its spin. So motor which spins the disc has no trouble at all I should say. Then comes to the second motor that moves the laser assembly inside it. If it do not work, the laser pickup unit won't move and no reading will take place and 'No Disc' display will be the result. The last chance is with Laser Pickup Unit itself. Just get this unit repaired by any well experienced service technician or by the authorised service center, because, there are special tools to open this unit. As it is a compactable one, more care should be given to it while repairing. Suspect the second motor I described earlier, and the Laser Pickup Unit. OK.

I have a Polaroid pdm-08228bd that whenever we put

when you open the cover for the DVD you will see the laser ..its a small lens like device mounted on a spring like assembly .. you can manually clean that laser with a soft paper towell soaked in eyeglass lens cleaning solution .. dont spray the solution on the laser directly .. make sure the spindle spins freely in the center where the disk mounts ... when you close the lid and turn power on you should be able to hear the disk spin .. if you can hear it spin and hear some clicking but still wont play then you likely have a worn out laser .. unfortunately the cost of installing a new laser is often greater than the cost of a new DVD player ...
here are a few models that might be worth looking at ..

I load the CD put I don't hear it spinning at all

No it isn't, because your switch isn't tripping when you close the DVD. Try holding the lid down with your hand and listen for spin. If your DVD starts spinning you will need to locate the plastic pin protruding from your lid and extend it with superglue and a piece of cardboard. This will make up for the warp in your lid, and allow the switch to close.

I have a HR 753 DVD player and recorder and all of sudden not reading a lot of disks. even new ones brought from shop. I have put them in my friends DVD which is exactly the same and they work. Any ideas?...

Barring lightning strikes and other electrical issues...

9 times out of 10 the issue is going to be one of the two motors that are in the player. Either the motor that moves the lens or the motor that spins the disc. You should be able to hear a difference in the sounds the two players make when you insert a disc. If it is the motors you will hear clicking noise, similar to a dying hard drive. If ther motors work, you will hear the whurring noise of a spinning disc.

My Sony DVP-cx995v stopped playing DVD's

I had the same "Cannot play" problem - happened suddenly, I don't think I was doing anything unruly at the time.

After checking repair (exchange) prices in excess of $250 from Sony, I decided to open the cover to see if I could see anything wrong - normally a futile exercise with electronics except that in the past I have cleared errant disks that have lodged themselves near the drive/player at the rear of the library.

Upon opening and watching the library try to load and play I noticed the drive itself was not spinning the disk once loaded. It would sit for awhile, thinking about it I'm sure, then would unload and load the next dvd, again failing to spin.

I thought okay, maybe try to spin the dvd while in the player to see if it's jammed or otherwise hard to turn. It was not hard to turn and spun freely. In fact, when I put my finger through the hole at the exposed side of the player at the hub to spin the dvd, clockwise, it suddenly started to spin - and play!

I put the whole thing back together to test and all seems to be working fine at this point. Not sure what would cause the motor to stop spinning and remain in that state through poweroff/on cycles etc. but I'm sure this is not the last time I will have trouble of this kind.

I would note that when replacing the library back in its home on the shelf, be careful not to tip the library, especially toward the player area because the disks will spill out of the carousel near the player and become jammed when you power it on and attempt to load. A final tip of the library away from the player area may clear this if you hear the disks rolling out of their slots and you don't want to open the top again (it's a darned heavy box when fully loaded).

Good luck!

DVD player problem

you allneed to make sure the disc is spinning in the player you should hear it whirr as ut builds speed listen closely to it and keep a hand on it to feel when the disk quits if it starts. its supposed to spin v ery fast do you think you could tell by the sound of it if its spinning fast. some times they make a clicking noise because the drive mounts have slid down in the case and allows the disk to rub or tap the case. please let me know what you find out. this is for all three problems. let me know the results so i can further advise you.
