Turn the computer off without the flash drive being plugged in.
plug the flash drive in a usb port, power up, the systems post boot up will find the drive and inform windows what hardware is installed.
When windows boots up, it will look at all the hardware and find the flash hard drive, when windows finishes booting up you should be able to see the drive in my computer.

If you can't access your files, data recovery software can help.I used this one called Tenorshare Data Recovery to retrieve files off corrupted flash drive and it worked.
If needed, you can download it and scan your flash drive for free to preview whether your files can be recovered.BTW, you can get it from
Data Recovery Software for Windows Users
Data Recovery Software for Mac Users

Have you tried this? restart your computer and plug your USB in again(this helps to clean the buffer), see if you drive can be recognized.

If you still can't access the data inside, try this data recovery program Wondershare Data Recovery. Get the program here,

Windows Data Recovery (Windows Version)
Mac Data Recovery (Mac OS version)

Take care - Before those items are recovered, stop saving more files to the device in case the file data are overwritten!

Firstly, if the files are THAT important, why is your ONLY copy on a device like that? That's your first mistake.
Secondly, they cost like $10 now

You don't have backup copies of these "important" files? Why would you not have a copy on your PC/Laptop, that you copy back and forth?
Good news is $10 gets you a new one

Device not recognized on any pc

My 4Gb Cruzer stopped being recognized on any computer last night. I put it in and it flashes once and never mounts. I called SanDisk tech support and they recommended calling LC Technologies to retrieve data.
I put a call into LC Tech and spoke with Ray, who was very friendly and all to familiar with this problem with the Cruzer. From what he told me the USB ports are highly unregulated at 5v and most likely the circuit board in the flash drive that allows for reading the data was damaged. He said the only option at this point was to send them the drive and they would pull the memory chip to try and recover any data. The bad news is that it comes with a $125 charge if they are successful on devices over 1Gb. He stated they had about a 80% recovery rate.

Sandisk cruzer thumb drive

This just means it is trying to recognize the device. All you need to do is allow it to recogniz the device and find the proper drivers. You can put files in here by going into my computer and double clicking the mass storage device. Files can be draged or copied in here, then taken anywhere you need to go.

it may have overheated and became stuck. Stick it in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for 1/2 hour then try it. Do not leave it out without power for long or moisture will condense on it.
