HI
All you need to do is to run an Anti-Spyware program on it. Normally it will make it go faster.
Also you might want to try to limit startup programs meaning to get the laptop to start the minimum programs possible.

You might want also to backup your personal files and scrap everything, do a fresh installation.

Hope it works fine

cheers

Compaq presario m2000 notebook continuously beeps while starting up. The computer is very slow once fully logged in. Do you have any suggestions to fix these problems?

The beeping usually points to a RAM stick failure. If your laptop has two sticks of RAM then one of them has failed, which further explains the slow performance of the laptop once it's fully loaded.
To troubleshoot this issue, you'll need to remove one RAM stick at a time, and see if the laptop boots at all. When you have only one stick of RAM and the laptop does not load after the beep signal, then that installed RAM stick is bad. You may want to try and clean up the contacts with a cotton cloth and some alcohol just to make sure it's not an oxidized contact issue.

If this was informative and helpful please vote with a Thumb Up. Thank you.

I have an aspire 3053 laptop it is so slow its unbelievable is it possable to change the memory to speed it up its about 3 year old

Is your computer running Windows Vista Home Basic?
Does it have 512MB of RAM installed?
If yes to both questions, then adding 2048MB of RAM will _definitely_ speed-up your computer.

See: http://www.pcmemorystore.com/Acer-Aspire-3050%5E1733-ram.htm where you can buy 2GB (2048MB) of DDR2-4200 RAM for $38 US.

The usual cause for a "slow" computer is too-many programs running at the same time (not too many programs installed onto the disk-drive) competing for too-small amount of RAM.

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power-cord.
Flip the computer over.
Remove the battery.
Remove the screws over the memory cover (at the centre of the bottom).
You'll either see a stick of RAM, or an empty slot for RAM.
Remove any existing RAM, and insert the new stick of RAM.
Replace the cover.
Insert the battery.
Connect the AC power.
Boot it up, and it will run _MUCH_ faster.

Hi, i have a packard bell easynote tj68 which has all of a sudden started beeping when it is booting up, and the computer is gone slow and keeps freezing

Beeping means that you have a hardware failure. Since the pc has gone slow then most probably the memory has gone bad and you will have to replace it. To identify which stick has gone bad just remove alternatively one of them - with the bad one the laptop will not start. Junk it and buy a identical replacement.

Runs slow, i do the basic like defrag, clean disk, delet history. internet files, thing of that nature but my hp is slow like my processor is out dated or my processor is trying to hard to complete simple...

Your computer has only 512MB of RAM.That will just barely run your XP,forget about doing anything else. You need a minimum of 1GB,2GB is even better.Your computer works in RAM not your hard-drive.The hard-drive is for storage, the RAM is for running your programs.

Slow computer

I'd speak to them again, sounds like you have a faulty stick of RAM, if it freezes then it usually means one of the hex sections of the stick isn't working correctly.

SLOW MOTION

Toshiba laptops are notorious for coming with a bunch of useless software installed that will no doubt slow your machine... thats just my two cents...

Anyway, add to that, running Windows Vista, Anti-Virus software, and it only comes factory with 512mb of system memory, and you will have one slow running computer.

First thing I would suggest, is getting a system ram upgrade. It should support DDR2 and have two memory slots. DDR2 right now is fairly cheap. I would go for two 1gb sticks for a total of 2gb of ram.

If you aren't savvy about tackling this yourself, take it by your local computer shop or parts super store and get the ram upgrade, 2 gigabytes total. You will prob be alot happier with it's performance.
