Question about Kingston (DTIU3/2GB) 2 GB USB Hard Drive

1 Answer

USB device not recognized

In August 2008 you posted a link with suggestions to fix a problem for a Kingston USB flash drive that is no longer being recognized in WIn XP. The page does not appear to be accessible any more. Can you provide the info or give a different link?
Thank you.

The drivers must be up to date and written for your device. If there are no drivers, it will not communicate and thus it may look like it is working and in place, but the linkage is not there.

I want a driver from download pendrive

Windows XP and Windows Vista and Windows 7 have built-in device-drivers for this pen-drive.

Microsoft (and probably Kingston) no longer support Windows 98/ME (since 2008) and no longer support Windows 2000 (since July 2010). So, device-drivers for those "unsupported" operating-systems probably are _NOT_ available.

My kingston 2 gb flash disk is not recognized, how can i fix it?

Please follow the below steps to fix your problem

1
Connect your flash drive to your computer using an available USB port. If your flash drive is not recognized, you'll usually receive an error that says "USB Device Not Recognized."

2
Click "Start" > "Control Panel" and open the system configuration by double-clicking the "System" icon.

3
Navigate to the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button to open the Device Manager.

4
Click the "+" next to "Disk Drives" and locate your USB flash drive. A question mark icon should be shown to the left of the label. Right-click the device name and select "Uninstall."

5
Open the "Action" menu at the top of the Device Manager and select "Scan for hardware changes." This will scan your PC for any new devices. Because you uninstalled the flash drive, it will be detected as a new device and the drivers will be reinstalled.

6
Click "Start" > "My Computer" and look for your flash drive. If this process was successful, your flash drive should now show up under My Computer as a storage disk.

Hope the above information will be helpful to you.
Thanks.

Usually all flash drive are plug and play devices if your computer is not recognizing it you should try plugging it into another USB port and even try plug in another computer to see if it would work.If your flash drive does not work this mean it is dead and the flash drives are not design to get the information off when it is dead.

W98SE Driver for Kingston 1.0Gb DataTraveller Flash Drive

The people at your local computer shop are wrong but, Windows 98 should at least recognize the USB thumb-drive and ask for drivers.
I would remove all the USB Controllers from within Device Manager and restart; allow Windows upon restart to reload the USB Controllers; then plug in the drive and see if Windows at least recognizes and then install drivers.
It seems only the DTI/XX, KUSBDTE/XX, and DTII/XX support Windows 98.
