If it's damage and unreadable, you have to replace it.

External drives do go bad and if it was your backup you need to start backing up the backup.

Look into the Cloud Technology. Google will give you 5GB free to backup your data that you can access from anywhere.

  • If this is a device you plug into your usb port, then try another usb port. Try it on another computer. If it's gone, it's gone.

My computer says reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

Hello
This means that your hard drive is not detected by your computer.Unplug your computer then open the cover then check if the connector of the hard disk are properly connected and the power supply on the hard disk are also properly connected. And try to feel if your hard is vibrating when you powered it on. Because if the hard disk does not vibrating it means that your hard disk have no power or not properly connected to the connectors or damage. Sometimes i experienced this problem thats all i done then it works.

Hello Ravindr,

After connecting the Segate Hard Drive in your computer go to Control Panel. In Control Panel you will the option Administrative Tool. In Administrative Tool open the Computer Management and you will find the number of attached Hard Drive and the Partitions they have. If the Hard Drive you have attached is not showing the partition then there may some physical damage with the Hard Drive media. Please get your Hard Drive checked by Segate professionals and then replace the Hard Drive with new one.

I get an error message saying error loading operating system when i boot up

Some essential files required at boot are corrupted. Try to perform a Repair install. If this doesn't fix it then the hard disk itself is damaged. Install a new hard disk, do a full install to it put back the old disk in and recover what you can from it before junking it.

Playstation 3 hard disk files corrupted???

hey ash,

ps3 Hard drive needs to be manually reformatted and checked for bad sectors.

as what youve said, you already formatted it and yet it still says there is a corrupt system file.

when i say "manually formatted" you have to clearly take the hard drive out and format it using another pc or ps3.
