The set needs a new LCD if it looks cracked and swirly, the colors all run together in the area of the crack don't they! If it is cracked it can't be fixed. you can replace the lcd but I am not sure if a warranty will cover a cracked screen or not. You will need to contact LG and be very nice to them and see if they will honer the warranty on this.
if the outside screen is not cracked and its just the internal lcd take it into a Verizon store and they should swap it out under warranty, otherwise if they will not do it send to LG and they will replace. Don't tell them you dropped it at the Verizon store tell them it was in your pocket and something must have pushed against it
It indeed is a fairly easy repair in case of your Acer. However you will need a replacement screen which would cost a lot if you order it new. You might be better off searching ebay for a broken "donor" laptop (make sure it's exactly the same model, as even similar models with same screen dimensions might have different connectors or inverters - I learned the hard way ;)
People on Ebay will sell you kits with tools and instructions telling you how to replace a cracked LCD screen.. and then once you have the instructions you still have to buy the LCD Screen replacement part. By the time you buy both the instructions and the screen, it will probably be $50.. and it is not easy at all.. I tried it once. And I'm tech support for blackberry folks.. and I'd recommend just selling the phone for parts and getting a replacement.
This just happened on my Voyager. I found this website that sells repair parts. Hope it helps. http://www.cellphone-repair-shop.com/products/lg-voyager-vx10000-cellphone-replacement-repair-parts-vx-10000_409.htm
