My problem was : The first side of my printout is clean, but a white stripe appears when I print on the reverse side. I have tried blowing any dust out of the toner tyrays but this makes no difference.
Ginko's solution is This means that the heater, the fuser lamp, is not producing enough heat to melt the toner uniformedly.
How do I mend the fuser lamp?

  • debox Nov 29, 2008

Instructions for my printer do not mention a fuser lamp. I have reinstalled the toner trays when I tried blowing out dust as suggested by Samsung manual.

  • debox Nov 29, 2008

Following your comments I have set print quality to 'Best' and this has produced a clean print out. But I fear the problem may recur. If it does I wonder if something is overheating.
I appreciated your support and the speed with which it came through.

But I am printing in colour and the stripe always appears in the same place whichever colour I am using on it. So I don't think that can be the answer.

  • debox Nov 29, 2008

As I said before - I have 4 toner trays - I am using an LCP. I cannot replace all 4 toner trays which are quite full and very expensive.

Not very helpful. But thanks for trying and responding so quickly. If I have more problems do I have to pay again or is my payment good for more problems?

Try replacing the toner cartridge as u said white strip appear on the page that means the toner powder is not coming on the paper.if the strip is of black colour that means the powder is leaked or its dirt inside the printer.if the strip is white just remove the toner and shake it for a minute then reinsert and check out.if still this problem that means the power is not there in your toner cartridge.just replace it.and it will work.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, it would appear that the distribution of the toner powder is uneven in the cartridge. You may want to try and remove the toner cartridge, give it a vigorous shake to even the powder inside and re-try again. Should this be not corrective, pls try to changing the toner and verify that it is an original from Samsung.

Incidentally, you may want to check that the:

  • "Resolution" is set to highest possible;
  • "Toner Saver Mode" is set to "Off"; and
  • "Darkness" set to "Dark".
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

If if were overheating, the system has built-in thermal protection. Additionally, the printer operates on the principle of heat so heat would be but normal. Weather/temperature affects how the powder/toner behaves inside the cartridge. They do tend to bunch together forming cakes/balls and would have to be loosened up from time to time.

If my proposal/solution of changing the print settings did address your concern, perhaps you could rate this solution, of course as how you see it fit.

    Cheers.

White vertical stripes on the document are often caused by a defective or dirty fuser unit, not melting the toner uniformedly.

If you notice that the toner is also not well fixed on the document, this can also be a problem with the fixing system (developer roller, drum assembly) , and you get the toner scratched out the papers when the paper ejects.

Usually you fix this kind of problems by replacing the fuser.

Call the phone number listed on the user manual if you decide to call a technician.

You can buy a fuser here, contact the vendor and select the right kit for your model:

    samsung clp500 fuser kit

    Samsung CLP 600 fuser

    Samsung Laser Toner Cartridges

Naturally, before replacing the fuser, try a new original replacement toner for your printer.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Nov 29, 2008

When you set quality to best, the machine spreads (and also wastes) more toner to do the printout. The bigger amount of toner compensed the insufficient heating, and produced a regular printout.

This is just a confirmation that the fuser is not heating properly.

The problem will come back as soon as you lower down resolution and print a couple of copies.

The fuser it is probably covered with dirt and should be replaced to have the printer fixed properly.

You can decide to use the printer with more resolution (it consumes more toner, and toner finishes faster), or to have the problem fixed by replacing the fuser unit.

Additional cause for vertical not printed stripes concern the Drum, that is where the laser draws the picture that is going to be printed, but ion this case you usually do not fix it by increasing resolution.

If the printer is in colour you can still have melting problem, surely it iwll be better having a techincian to test fuser temp and to have a look at the drum.

Also a complete cleanup (properly done by a tech) should be performed, residual toner may cause strange phoenomena sometimes.

Listen , the faults that can give you a vertical faded line on a laser, and it disappear when you increase print resolution are faults related to the engine controller board or to the fuser lamp.

The engine control board is connected to the drum, when the connector is dirty or defective you get a page that has a large fading white band at the centre.

Check also that the printer was not on economy mode before you changed settings, in that case you can have problem of this kind depending on the toner cartridges, and the machine is not faulty.

I get this blue stripe down the right side of the page whenever I print in colour. When I print in black and white the colour is not even but there is no blue stripe.

Open the doors to locate and wipe off the green shiny roller really well. Spin it and wipe it off all the way, especially on that right side. Pull out the cyan toner and wipe it around where the toner comes out. Check other rollers for blue marks and wipes those off as well. Lit free cloths work best but I just use a damp paper towel and then a dry one.

Try unplugging printer from the power and connecting it back.

Try also extracting all toners and putting toners back.

Epson CX11NF printer problem-repair solved

To clear stripe....Open the front cover and look on the inside of the right side of the printer....There you will see a pictorial instruction showing the PRINTER HEAD cleaning procedures.

Follow them (remove tab/plug on right side, pull out on head lock arm on inside right, then fully pull out the printer head arm inside the port on the (outside of printer) right side.....Then push it back in, replace tab cover, push the lock back in (inside right-front) and problem solved.....

God Bless,

According to the manual, "If there are white vertical lines on your printout, you will need to clean the print head."

Samsung CLP-510 Print Quality problem

The following can cause bands (vertical on a normal page)

Faulty Toner cartridge
Faulty Drum Unit
Faulty Transfer Belt
Contaminated Fuser
Damaged or dirty LSU glass

I've also seen this sort of thing caused by a crusty build-up of toner on a wiiper blade on the Transfer Belt, and or Drum.

Black stripes

There has probably been spilled some toner inside the printer. You might be able to have it cleaned. It also might just wear off, but that will take some time. If the printer has toner cartridge with a drum inside, changing it might help.
