The red, blue and green RCA hook up is just video. You must also use the red and white pair of RCA jacks for the audio. You can usually find the audio red and white jacks right below the video red, blue and green RCA jacks. Get yourself an audio RCA cord with the red and white connectors and run that from your video device audio output to the audio input of the TV that corresponds with the video input of the TV. An example would be if the red, blue and green are on the "Video 1" input of your TV you will find the red and white audio input for "Video 1" right below or right next to the video inputs.

The red, blue and green video jacks are called "component video" and they only have a video signal for high definition video, so you must also run a separate audio line for it. The same holds true for the yellow video RCA connector, that one is called "composite video" and it also has only a video signal with no audio.

I hope this helps, if so a "FixYa!" rating would be very much appreciated.

If you need more help just post your concerns right here onthis thread.

Tv has red screen and no sound

how are you hooked up? sometimes i get weird colored screens when people use the component cables (red, green, blue, red and white) to hook up but get one in the wrong spot or not in all the way.

uh... if this isn't helpfull try using a different input alltogether. like, if your using video 1 put it in video 2 or if your using hdmi try just using the SD composite (yellow, red and white)

eh, good luck

CAN not get colour when hooking up rca cable to non HD satelite receiver

Look at the jacks on both units--some sat receivers are component=blue, green, red and unless the set has same color jacks correctly hooked up it will not work.

If box has yellow, and red and white that is composite.

If set works normal off this system it is either a connection issue or a problem with settings in the receiver.

How to connect dvd red white cables

several types of connections possible:

A unit with yellow, red and white is yellow is video, red and white are left and right audio.

This is called COMPOSITE as all video/color are on yellow and red and white only for sound or audio.

If the DVD has RED,GREEN, and BLUE the hookup must be to similar connections on the set---this is called COMPONENT and green carries the video and red and blue the information for those colors.

Let me know if issues or questions as I am here to help you

I hooked up my Vizio LED LCD to my Philips surround sound and my DVD picture is pink. What do I do?

This sounds like a problem with the component video connection (the red/green/blue cable; sometimes labeled Y,Pb,Pr). You can get a pink screen if the Green (Y) or the Blue (Pb) aren't plugged in correctly. Recheck those first.

I hooked up a DVD player to my RCA Tv/ VCR Combo. I get sound, but no picture. All connections are tight. Cables are hooked up in the order they should be. I get cable from TWC. There are red yellow &...

The red and white are the audio, and the yellow is the video, check the back of the tv to make sure the yellow jack states input, if yes make sure the tv is set to aux/or video.

Tried to hook up hd cables and seems good but no audio tried to hook up but can't get to work

You cannot get AUDIO from Component Video, as it is only VIDEO, you must get another set of Cables RED & WHITE, and connect them from the AV, AUDIO Jacks, OUT on the "Sender" The DVD, Receiver etc, to the AV AUDIO IN on the TV. So you will have 5 Cables connecting BOTH Video & Audio. The Component Video, uses Blue, Green, & Red, these go color to color on the RCA Jacks at BOTH ends PLUS the Red & White Audio, color to color at BOTH ends. .Hope that clears things up.

Connecting my TV and DVD player to a digital set top box

There are 4 different types of cables and they have to do with the quality and resolution of what they carry.
1) Coaxial or an RCA to RCA, 'Yellow colored connectors' - Composite video - Lowest quality of video you can get. Mostly what people hook up from their VCR's. '240 to 480 lines of interlaced resolution.

2) S-VHS cable - 4 pins - Carry Chroma 'Color' over the one set of two pins and Luminance 'B&W' signal over the other 2 pins. This is a higher resolution than the Composite video cable - 480 to 512 'still interlaced resolution' or ' i ' .

3) Component cables - RCA ends but there are 3 of them. Red colored 'for the Red video signal', Green colored connector 'for the Green video signal with Vertical sync laid on top of it,' and then Blue colored 'for the 'yep you guessed it' the Blue video signal with the horizontal carrier laid on top of the signal'.
This is the higher resolution of 720 ' i ' interlaced or even when selected by your piece of output equipment up to 1080p 'Progressive' resolution if your equipment can output this highest resolution.

4) HDMI - is a cable that not only carries the component but does it digitally along with audio and an ID bit that the Transmitting equipment 'STB' in this case should communicate with your 32" LCD HD-TV so that it will put out the maximum signal 'probably 1080P' that your TV will handle.
I would try to obtain an HDMI cable and use this to connect your STB to your LCD for the best connection between your two units.

17 yr. old 35" RCA loses color intermittently. Picture & sound ok

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.

RCA D52W136D 52 inch has no green

Hello sjustinh,

It sounds like your color processor may have gone bad or at least the circuitry connected to it. To solve this problem you will need a schematic, a digital storage oscilloscope, a signal generator, and a multimeter. Now if you don't know what these devices are and do not have a background in electronics, I would suggest that you take the TV set to a qualified TV repair person. I am not trying to put you down or anything its just that this problem requires that you open up the set and using the schematic trace down the signals that control the LCD screen and find out the condition of the signals that display green. Since green is the result of the algebraic addition of red and blue, you may have a problem in the circuitry that controls that function.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Shuttle83
