Question about Bosch HMV9305 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Doesn't work It stopped working midway through a cycle and all lights went off. Unit felt hot to the touch above controls. Smelled a bit of burning so assume fuse or worse is gone. It's been making a funny sound for a while, seems overly noisy.

Sounds like your magnetron has failed and was going bad for some time.

I would contact Bosch to find their nearest authorized servicer.

If it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

I replaced the light bulbs but they still do not come on and the vent fan will not come on either?

the fan and the surface lights are run through the control via the touch pad. if you tried to replace the bulbs without unplugging the unit 1st you probably shorted the board. this can be checked by lowering the touch control panel by first removing the vent above it to access the panel screw. at this point you can observe the control for burn marks

Lite bulb & fan stopped working but oven works fine.

had the same problem (self induced) and shorted out the oven.  took the control board out and found i had burned the circuit between the connector and high/low light microswitch.  just jumped the circuit with a piece of solder, reinstalled the board and the fan and light started working. it doesn't have a low light setting anymore but who cares, just saved 130 bucks.  not going to tell my wife how i broke it, only how i fixed it. very proud of myself and learned a little bit, mainly unplug the unit before working on it.

Microwave not working

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

Otherwise, your controller or keypad may have moisture on it.

(I'm answering this directly via e-mail, too, but would still appreciate your kind rating)

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

Details of our service and critical safety information and disassembly information is at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

Microwave quit working

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

It may also be the high-voltage rectifier diode.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Feel free to post your brand and model so we might be able to give me specific info.

Burning smell and light switch does not work

The controller needs to be repaired. We regularly repair these control board assemblies for only $32.50 nationwide, and that's much cheaper than replacing the board. For safety, disassembly and other info see http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Microwave don't work

You didnt mention if the oven worked or not. Its not blowing the fuse?? Ok it could be as simple as the Diode or capacitor but dont try to touch the capacitor terminals as it holds a nice charge.. Turn on the oven for a bit with a cup of water inside and let it run for a few minutes. If you start to see smoke pull the plug right away!!!!! If you dont let the water boil(about 2 to 3 minutes thyen unplug and carefully fell around for a HOT part, But dont touch any electrical connections! If theres something drawing to much current it will get hot. Ive had bad capacitors bad and causes the transformer to get too hot. as well as bad magnatrons cause the transformer to get to hot. I would recomend that you take this unit in to be diagnoised as there are alot of voltage in this oven as I ststed before and it is dangerous for a handyperson to be fiddling with it. Good Luck
