I have a Sony Vaio Model PCG-5J2L. Lately, the fan has been really loud, and the bottom of the laptop has been heating up and it is VERY HOT. Also, the other day, it just shut down by itself while I...

That recall is for VPCF11 and VPCCW2 models. Your issue definitely sounds like a heat problem. Sometimes it can be a buildup of dust, fuzz, carpet etc especially if you use it on a bed or the floor. Check all the vents and make sure they are clear. If the fan is making abnormally loud noises, slight grinding it could be failing. Here is one, retails for about 35 dollars. Make sure you get one with a heatsink, better safe then sorry. It is not too difficult to replace, but if you are not comfortable doing it then it is best to take it to a computer repair store.

My sony vaio pcg-k33 shuts off by itself when i turn it on. i think its the video card cause the fan turns on and stays on when i turn the latop on. so maybe its over heating. Please help

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Buy a can of compressed-air, and give your computer a "blow-job", because a layer of dust inside your computer is blocking your heat-radiators, and thus is causing your computer to overheat.

Sony Vaio K33; the fan seems to run all of the time, hot and nois

i had the same problem with my vaio.

when disassembling the notebook: after you remove the metal cover under the keyboard, you'll see three areas covered with black thermal tape. peel back the thermal tape and you should see tightly packed dust buildups in those areas. use a q-tip and vacuum if you can or air duster. be sure to clean the fans as well as the heatsink assembly.

once that is done, your noise level should be reduced by about 60-70%.

if you're still running hot, consider cleaning the old thermal grease off your processor and reapplying a new layer.

Cd drive is not recongonised with qsi cdrw/dvd sbw242c -Vaio lap top PCG-k33-model PCG-9s1l

if its the original drive that came with the laptop ...just reinstall the operation system ...and this will fix the problem ...if will continue to do that ...it means that its something wrong with the device and need to be replaced..
you can also go to bios and restore factory defaults by presing F9 or choosing the optimal defaults from the menu ...after that just save changes and reboot ...this in case the problem is from there ...cause there are cases when the drive may be deactivated from bios..
