Question about Jenn-Air JGR8775QD Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Reigniting burners When the oven is on, I use the back burners. They click like they are trying to turn on, but they are already on.  Finally I figured out that the heat from the oven is creating a breeze through the vent on the back of the stove.  Is this a defect or just something that can be fixed. The oven is suffocating the to burners with the heat coming from that draft you can put some oven insulation there to stop the problem.

OVEN ignition starts ok then after severl seconds the gas is turned off.\r\n Also range burners tend to continue sparking. Using Propane -- poor quality.

ignition level is low (it should be not less than 3.1 A) if it's below gas will turn on and off. you need to replace ignitors.
sparking is automatic reignition control (spark module), try to clean burners first and make sure they installed properly back after cleaning., if not than replace spark module.

Oven does not "burn" steadily when set below 300 degrees.

Sounds like you have a bad oven ignitor and oven burner tube. install a Amperage meter on one of the oven ignitor wire, It should draw above 3 AMPS, if it is below then you have a bad oven ignitor, or just change the oven ignitor to see if it makes any difference. Have fun.

The oven does not stay an even temperature and there is a gas smell. The broiler works fine! Only the oven....

By the parts diagram, it looks like you have a glow coil type igniter . Generally when the oven wont keep temperature, the igniter is failing to reignite the burner. The burner comes on till it reaches temp then shuts off until the temp falls below a certain temp then comes back on until it reaches temp again and so on and so forth. Most of the time the igniter has a very small crack in it and doesn't begin to fail until it cycles several times. I would check the igniter and the safety valves and coils on the valve

Oven won't light unles you tap on bottom parts.

This might be grit or ash that might have found it's into the burner. When the gas flows into the burner has enough velocity to pick up and carry small debris to the inside of the openings in the burner. When you tap it the debris falls from the holes and gas can flow again. If you are on propane, it is common to have grit in the lines. Natural is less likely to have grit unless you have had construction nearby. Finally, does this system use a flame sense probe? If yes the sense probe might also be dirty and need to be wiped with steel wool (soap free)

Dcs 48" gas range igniter comes back when set on low/simmer

This is not a solution but something to think about for troubleshooting.
On the DCS there are two ports that feed gas to the burner.
One for high flame and one for simmer.
On the DCS if the flame is snuffed out on simmer it will automatically reignite.
So if the igniter will not shut off while on simmer, the sensor is bad and is trying to reignite the burner.

Top burners often wont light if oven is already lit

I have fix that problem before, the oven heat is soficating the top burners, you will have to adjust top burners with the oven on, so that they will light by them selfs.Or put a shield under the cook top section on the back, so that the heat will not come to the burners where they get the oxigen.

30 inch Viking ultraline stove, 6 years old. You have 2? burners on the bottom in the oven. One on the right "buffs" or seems to go out then reignites. The "cook" also says it takes...

We inherited a 30 inch Viking Ultraline when we purchased our current house. I was extremely excited to cook on such a high-end range, but this thing has been nothing but trouble. The temperature on the oven is always between 25-75 degrees hotter than indicated on the dial. An oven thermometer is the way I solved that problem. None of the igniters work on the burners (I use a BBQ lighter on all the burners) the broiler has never worked, and one of the hinges broke and required replacement. We actually ordered the hinges off the internet for $25 each and replaced them ourselves--it was not complicated but would have been costly to get a tech out to do it.
After repairing the hinges, I decided to use the self-clean function, which, big surprise, not only did not work, but locked me out of the oven! I tried re-starting the self-clean, breaking the circuit and re-starting it and nothing worked. Having read many posts on the internet, I realized I would probably have to get a tech in to fix it for me. In desperation, I finally turned the oven on to 325 for 20 minutes, hoping it would unlock, and inexplicably, an hour after I turned it off, it unlocked itself. Finally, the burners are impossible to keep clean--no matter what I do to clean them, they always look filthy.
I would never buy another Viking product, as I am totally underwhelmed by the performance of this range.
