Computer Will Not Power Up

I don't quite follow your question? My mergers? My wireless things? If you are referring to laptops/Desktops, connect a Ethernet Cable directly to the Comcast Modem. You can call Comcast to verify the signal and sent a fix signal, basically a reboot, which you can do by removing ALL power from the modem and wireless and replace battery, plug in the Modem, wait for selftest, plug in the wireless device, wait for selftest, try again. As to the Computer not powering up, that's another issue.

Strong signal but can not connect

If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards and wireless adapters in all the laptops/computers needs tobe configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSLor cable modem.

I HAVE A NEW HP DESKTOP AND AN OLD LINKSSY WIRELESS G

Hi Vivian,

Chweck you cables and where they are conencted.

You will need to make sure that the Comcast modem is providing internet, you can do this by connecting your laptop to it using ethernet directly if it connects to the internet, that will be a good thing.

From your comcast Modem, the ethernet Cable should go to the linksys where it says "WAN". this should give you an internet connection and make your comcast modem communicate with your linksys Router.

HI! I bliv u are having some issue setting up ur router.. I will be more than glad to assist u. . here are the steps u need to do: 1. press the reset button on the back of the router for 20sec..while pressing the reset button, unplug the power plug and after 2secs while pressing the reset button plug it back in and press for 30secs after that unplug the router for 15secs then plug it back in..once all the lights are solid and ok 2. connect the ethernet cable to port1 of the router and the other end to the lan port of your computer.. 3. pull up ur browser then type at the url:192.168.1.1.or 192.168.0.1 or u can check the routers default gateway by right clicking the network icon on the lower right of your task bar and click on status and it will show the ip address of the computer, subnetmask and default gateway, the default gateway is the routers ip address, once u type in to the url, it will ask u the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password is 1234 or just leave it blank 4. it will show the setup page of the router. u can set the router on the specific internet setup that u have. a. if ur isp is a cable company, normaly u need to do a mac clone on the router setup page by cloning the computer that is reg to the cable company, how to determine it. ex. the computer that is reg to the cable company is a desktop or laptop, if this computer is connected to the modem directly and u can access internet. b. once u determined it u need to connect this computer directly to the router and do a mac clone and set ur internet settings to auto-dhcp..then save the settings and after that, unplug to the power of the modem and router, plug in 1st the power of the modem then once all lights lit, plug in the router, then once all lights lit, try to pull up a browser that ur computer is connected directly to the router.. ur cable connection shud be, cable from the modem will go to the WAN port of the router and connect ethernet cable on port1 going to the lan port of the computer..once u can access the internet, u can now access again the setup page of the router by typing at the url:192.168.1.1 and u can setup the wireless settings, u need to create a ssid or wireless name and a security.. 5. If ur isp is a dsl normaly they give u a username and password to connect to the internet, ur settings on the router should be PPPoe 6. If ur isp gives u a static ip address settings, u need to set the router to isp setup. a. how to check the isp of the isp given to u.. 1. click on start 2. run 3. type cmd 4. it will show a dos prompt 5. from the dos prompt type ipconfig/all 6. it will list the ip address, subnet, default gateway, dns server this settings should be type in to the settings on the router for static ip addressing.. 7. Once your done on the internet setting, go to your wireless connection settings and you can create a wireless network name or ssid, set a security by selecting wep, wpa, wpa2. 8. once all is set. save the settings and to check if your laptop can access the wireless network that you did, turn on the wireless switch of your laptop, once its on, it will show the wireless network icon on the lower right of the taskbar, right click it and select on view available network, the network name that u did should list, just select it and connect and it will ask for the password, just type the password and connect, you should be connected to the wireless network and have internet access.. 9. Arimex comcast router won't talk to belkin wireless g plus mimo router

Comcast has a little known "trick" that they use when setting up users. Here's how it works:

When Comcast first comes to setup your new cable modem service, they insist on connecting it to your computer and "testing" it. Most people think nothing of it, and that it's good customer service ...truth be told, what they are doing is attaching your computer's MAC address to that cable modem, so that you cannot create a wireless network. This is because they want you to pay them $150 to do this for you.

In this situation, since the modem is a modem/wireless router in one, my guess is that the MAC address on your machine now does not match the MAC address on the new router, which is what Comcast has stored in their database(s).

Try this: on your computer (while connected to the modem), perform a release on your IP address (start, run, cmd, then type "ipconfig /release"). Disconnect the ethernet cable from the computer. Turn computer off completely. Hold down the reset button on the cable modem until it performs a reset. Once it's back up and running, boot up your computer with the cable back in the ethernet port.

The cable modem should assign a new address to your computer. However, that may or may not work ...this is an easy workaround with a Linksys router, but not necessarily with the all-in-one devices.

Worst case scenario: contact Comcast and notify them that the new modem is not recognizing your computer's MAC address and that it needs to be updated in their system. They will scan your computer (through the telnet interface on your modem) and get your computer's MAC address, then (hopefully) make the necessary changes on their end.

After that, everything should work flawlessly. If not, insist on a Comcast tech to "fix" the service that you are paying for.

Good luck - hope this helps :)

Router won't log into it's IP address online

It appears to me that you have everything plugged into the desktop PC. This is not the way that it should be done. Plug the cable modem into the wireless router via the Internet/WAN port. Plug your desktop PC into one of the ports numbered 1-4. Now connect to the router via the wireless connection for the router and you should be able to now connect to the internet with your laptop.
If it still does not work, power down everything in this order: Laptop, Desktop, Router, Cable Modem. Bring everthing up in the reverse order (Cable Modem, Router, Desktop, Laptop) waiting for each device to stablize before moving to the next.
Once you get everything working, turn on your wireless security (WPA not WEP) asap to keep your computers and surfing safe, and to keep intruders off your network.

Please help...internet won't connect

You may be running into a problem of your ISP only allowing one computer on the internet. while the internet is on can you access the internet from the desktop comcast originally setup?  If so that is more then likely your problem.

I have comcast myself and they told me they do not allow home networks. I fixed that problem by using the mac address cloning feature in my router.

The setup cd is also junk, all you should really need to do is:
1. unplug modem, router, and turn off computers
2. Plug modem into router
3. Plug computers into router (don't worry about wireless right now)
4. Turn on modem, wait 20 seconds or so for lights to set,
5. Turn on router. again wait for lights to set
6. Turn on ONE computer that is hard wired into the router
7 Try to surf the net.
8. If successfull try to connect wireless computers (Without using cd) and see if they surf.

If not call comcast and see if your computers are trying to obtain real-world ip's instead of LAN ip's like they should.
If so, you'll need to enable DHCP on the router.

2wire Wireless router not working w/Comcast cable modem

Its almost impossible to connect a 2wire DSL router with a Cable modem. They dont go hand in hand.
Although you can connect the outgoing ethernet wire from the modem in the last ethernet plug on the back of the router and then have the ethernet connections coming from the router. But not wireless. and if you find a way, contact me at jneal2k9@hotmail.com
