HI
First you need to access your Router.
Then go to the setup page and set the router password and the encryption which is in your case WEP.

To do that open an Internet page and then type in your router's IP add, then type in username and password.

then go to setup page and change anything you want.

Hope it helps

Cheers

Grace Digital Mondo Wifi radio - plugged in, found my wifi connection, but when I enter my WEP Key, it just cirlces back to :Enter WEP Key. No errors received, just doesn't recognize my WEP K

Hi
You say that the radio keeps demanding the WEP key for your WiFi connection. WEP is just one of several security types to be used for WiFi. The fact that the radio is asking for a WEP key indicates to me that your WiFi is more than likely set to one of the other security standards such as WPA, WPA2-PSK etc etc etc. If this is the case your laptop and kindle etc will be using the same security standard as your WiFi router. To find out which security standard is being used in Windows 7, on your laptop, click on the active connection in the system tray to bring up the list of available connections and then click on "Open Network and Sharing Centre". When the Network Centre page comes up double click on the "Wireless Connection".
A status box will come up and about half way down is a utton "Wireless Properties". Click on this, and in the box that comes up click on the security tab and it will tell you the security type, the encryption type and the wireless key (click on "Show characters").
If the encryption type is not WEP then the radio will not connect to your WiFi, and the radio settings for Security and encryption need to be set to the same as on the laptop for it to connect.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

How to set up WEP on Linksys Router

printer.gifenvelope.gif
Setting-Up 152-Bit WEP Wireless Security on a Linksys Dual-Band A+G Wireless Router
Question
How do I set up 152-Bit WEP on a Linksys Dual-Band A+G Wireless Router?
Answer
Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) can be a 64-bit key with 10 hexadecimal digits, a 128-bit WEP key with 26 hexadecimal digits or a 152-bit WEP key with 32 hexadecimal digits. This encryption will prevent other users from connecting to a wireless network using your own WEP key. It will also protect your wireless transmissions/communications from being accessed or received by other users.
NOTE: Make sure to change the wireless settings of either Wireless-A or Wireless-G depending on the standard your network is using.
152-bit WEP key only applies to 5GHz 802.11a Wireless enabled network.
To setup WEP Wireless Security on your Linksys router follow the steps below.
Setting-Up the Linksys Router to use WEP
Step 1:
Access the router’s web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.
Step 2:
When the router’s web-based setup page appears, click Wireless then click WirelessSecurity.
Step 3:
Look for SecurityMode and select WEP.
For Wireless-A Settings:

4439-003.pngNOTE: If the screen on your router’s web-based setup page looks different, click here.
Step 4:
Look for the Encryption drop down menu and select 152 bits.
Step 5:
Look for Passphrase and type a wireless network password of your choice, then click Generate. In this example “MySecretKey” was used.
NOTE: You should come up with a password that is unique for your network and is a combination of numbers and letters up to 16 characters.
Step 6:
When you click Generate, the result will be a string of random characters.
Step 7:
Look for TXKey and select any number to determine which key you’ll be using. In this example, we selected 1.

4439-005.pngStep 8:
Copy Key1 since 1 was selected under TX Key.
NOTE: Do not give this key to anyone. This will be your wireless network’s key.

What is the wep key

WEP is the security key set up to keep unwanted people off of your network. WEP is easily cracked so it is strongly advised to change over to WPA or WPA2 for much stronger security. When you connect a device to your router over wireless it will ask you for a key. If you have the router set up to use WEP security, you will provide the WEP key.

I need help with my DSI it has error code 051310-1 and its the right WEP key i dont know what to do i have AT&T routor 2wire

This will fix any Dsi problems any of you are having...I spent a lot of time with tech's at Nintendo...what it is most times the Dsi will connect to the internet, but will not go online with a game. You have to go into your router settings and change your WEP-OPEN to WEP-SHARED and presto it will work!!! They say that WEP-OPEN is more secure than WEP-SHARED...although you have to enter your WEP key for both...do some research if you want to know the difference in the 2. But switch over you WEP-OPEN to SHARED and let me know if it works!!!

Cant find my wifi code to open a network

Your WEP is the security key you set in your router to allow other authorised devices to access your network. When you set it up, you set the WEP to protect your network from others accessing it without the key. So now all you have to do is set the WEP (security) key in your laptop the same as your router and you're cookin'. The same key must be used to connect any thing, iPhone, Wii, Play Station, anything that has WiIFi capabilty.

I neeed the password for dlink router

Well, you cannot get the wep key unless you have 1 pc that is wired into port 1 on that router. If you are wired to port 1, log in to the router and go to wireless, and look for wireless security. there you can change or remove wep keys. If you cannot log in, then you should reset the router and contact dlink to have an expert guide you through setup. Wep keys are not needed if you live in an open area, but if you live in a close knit housing area or in an apartment complex, they are a good idea to keep other people from stealing your bandwidth. In my own case I had a wp key for awhile, but decided that i would remove it and just use an open wifi. My signal is not strong enough to reach more than 30 yards, so unless you are parked beside my house you cannot get my signal. That is usually good, but sometimes I wish I had internet at my neighbors house, ha ha.

I need help with my dynalink router i changed the ssid and made a wep key

If you changed your WEP encryption then you've changed your WEP key. 64 bit WEP encrytion uses a 10 charater hexadecimal key and 128 bit uses a 26 charter hex key. You can not switch between the 2 configurations and keep the same key.., although some wireless adapter utility programs will generate a new key for you from the same "passphrase". Most likely your key has changed which would give you that problem. If all else fails, set your router back to defaults (open).. and make sure everything connects... then apply your key and be sure all computers and devices use the same key
