Question about Toshiba Satellite A55-S106 Notebook
First, you better the driver of the modem was well installed in Device Manage. If not, re-install the driver from Toshiba site again.
second, check/replace the phone line to make sure not the cable's problem.
And if it still same, you check Toshiba web to find what modem card look like for your laptop model and how much for cost(not cheap), and you can open a small cover from the bottom of laptop, and will see a small PCB board with a wire attached(Must look like what you see from Toshiba site, make sure it is not memory chip), then carefully unplug from motherboard and wire and replaced new one if you buy. BUT I don't think it is DIY.
The cheap way is buy a PCMCIA card modem and plug in the PCMCIA slot, which every one can do it.
