Question about HP Printers & Copiers

I have a c4830 and i am unable to get it to scan to my laptop i am getting an error message which reads ( the scan cannot be performed because another program or computer is using the networked HP imaging device. try again later 8,[ (0,18,0)]

Your firewall is blocking the printer from doing it scanning. Try to turn off your firewall or try to add an exceptions in your firewall for the printer software

Got a reply from Canon support as below.

During Boot Sequence of the machine, one of the checks performed by the machine is presence of Ink/toner Cartridge and the minimum quantity available in it to start up.

When the machine fails to get the signal of Ink availability, it stops the Initialization Process and an error code is displayed

Since the machine is an ALL-IN-ONE, it cannot perform any of its function, had it been exclusive Scanner the Boot Sequence would have been different.

It looks that you can receive data (eg.scanned) from your MFC but cannot send information to it {eg. reference to 2-ways communications not working):
I suspect that it is a 'Firewall' problem or 'Antivirus' issue: review possible logs and try turning both Firewall and Antivirus to check if they are the problems.

Scanner not working


Hi Jkey !

As per the information you have provided, I understand that you are receiving an error "No scan option refer to the documentation" on the printer, when you try to print from the front panel of the printer (I mean from the printer's side).

However, plz provide me the proper error message so that I can assist you in the best possible way. If you are unable to scan from the printer's side, then try to scan from the computer and check if it is working or not. It should work when you try to scan from the computer, if not there may be a communication issue between the two devices.

To check the communication perform the below steps:

IF the printer is connected via USB cable, then perform below steps:

To isolate the issue I suggest you to try scanning from the Windows Image acquisition(WIA) wizard on the computer.

Follow the below steps to Scan using WIA
1.Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.

2.Click Start then Click All Programs then Click Accessories then Click Scanner and Camera Wizard.

3.Follow the Scanner and Camera Wizard instructions to scan images to the computer.

If you are able to scan fine using the above steps, please write back to me along with the exact error message.

Unable to print or scan - copy only


that is a networking problem the fact the you can copy eliminates the possibility that there is something wrong with the printer / copier

I found this solution at HP website. It worked for me. Good luck!

A Scanner Bulb Error message is received as a result of the HP LaserJet 3300mfp series product scanner’s inability to find the home reference point.
SOLUTION:
Perform the following steps to walk the scan assembly from the home base and resolve the issue.
1. Remove and replace the power cord from the unit.
2. Wait approximately 35 seconds for the scanning assembly to “walk out" and then quickly remove the plug again.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, three to four times until the head moves approximately 1 inch away from its normal resting place.
4. Replace the plug and let the product fully finish the boot cycle.

Unable to create MSXML Instance


First we need to know the operating system installed in the computer.

If you are using XP. Then perform the steps given in the webpage.

If the issue still persists then search for the file hpqscnvw.exe(scanning file) and then try to scan from there.
