SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite P105-S6124 Screen lines

Are these lines on the screen during the whole boot process? If so then the screen cpu and/or the video cpu has gone bad. Connect an external monitor. If the picture is clear, no lines, then the problem is the LCD screen. If the lines appear on the external monitor during the boot process then the mother board will need replacement.

Good Luck

SOURCE: how do i resart my

There are a couple of scenarios.

If you notebook was manufactured from mid-2007 onwards (you can check this by going to the Toshiba website and do a search) there will be a recovery patition on the hrd drive. If it hasn't been wiped out, otr corrupted, you can click on this link http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/items/faq/71 and it will take you through step-by-step on how to recover your notebook to factory settings.

If not then you will have to ask Toshiba for a copy of the recovery disks.

The third way is to get a copy of Windows CD that is installed on your notebook, but you have to make sure that it is a Volume Copy, not an EOM or a retail copy, or an upgrade copy, and do a normal installation, and then download the drivers from the Toshiba site.

Let me know how you go.

SOURCE: Does the Toshiba Satellite p105-S6124 feature an air-filter?

well not exactly it's a filter for the heatsink for the CPU and is usually on side towards back or underneath

that can get clogged with dirt, making cpu run hot and slow computer down a bit.

we use a plastic ended vacuum hose on medium to remove that dust and dirt from outside of laptops

Hi,

Try to do a System Restore back to earlier restore point.

If you are using Windows XP, click below link and follow the instructions.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, use the link below.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

However, if this will not fix the issue, try to install an updated driver from Toshiba Website.

Hope this helps.

Toshiba P105-S6124 DVD Drive replacement.

there is usually one screw holding the dvd drive in, lay the PC closed, upside down, and lay the replacement drive in line with the old drive, this may tell you the exact location, or where to look (it may be under another removable panel, once the one screw is removed, the drive should slide out, if you eject the drawer, it is easier to remove after you pull out the screw, most have a manual eject (Pinhole in front by eject button) insert a straightened paper clip straight in. let me know if this helps or you need more info

For some models, however -- including those listed above -- booting from the Recovery disc requires pressing the F12 key, rather than the 'C' key. The instructions below are correct for these models.
CAUTION: The Recovery process reformats the computer's hard disk drive, which completely erases its contents -- including all applications, all documents, and all other data stored on the drive. Be sure to back up your documents and other data before following the instructions below.
Follow these steps to erase the current contents of the hard disk drive and to re-install all of the software that was installed on the computer when it was manufactured:
1. With the computer on, insert the first Recovery disc into the optical drive.
2. Shut down the computer (click the Start button, click Shut Down, select Shut Down, click OK).
3. Press the computer's power button to turn the computer on, and then immediately press and hold the F12 key. Release the F12 key when the menu of boot options appears.
4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the CD/DVD option. Press the Enter key to select it.
The computer will restart, and will boot from the Recovery disc.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to start the Recovery process.
CAUTION: Once the Recovery process has begun, do not interrupt it.

The computer's hard drive will be formatted, erasing its contents. All of the software that was installed on the computer when it was manufactured will then be re-installed.
6. Once the Recovery process is complete, remove the Recovery disc, and press any key to restart the computer.
