Power light blinking orange/yellow. does not mount or recognise

I was copying an avi file from the 250GB lacie porsche hard drive (USB2) and the USB cable got removed while the copy was in progress. I tried restarting the computer but the hard drive isnt regonised. it makes a strange noise when turned on, a different noise from before the problem began. also the power light on the hard drive now blinks orange and yellow (whereas before it was always orange). i have tried scanning for new hardware and it cannot find the hard drive. i have also tried pluggin it into another computer and this does not work either. please if anyone could help i would be extremely grateful.

I am having a similar problem. I have a lacie 500 gb D2 Quandra... for some reason it tries to mount (the light is solid) and then after a few seconds it starts flashing. I have tried two different computers -- an imac intel core duo 2 and a powerbook g4 to no avail... can anyone offer a suggestion/solution? Should I really try to take it out of it's case? It's less than a month old but I have important footage that I need to be working with so I want to try and salvage what is on the HD.... sigh... please any advice would be appreciated!

I had the same problem on my lacie 500 gig. i went ahead and opened the lacie hd and put it in another external casing. and it worked. no data was lost. as for the problem i would guess that the lacie external casing circuts must of shorted.

SOURCE: I was copying an avi

hi.
maybe problem is caused by your Power supply.
so i recommend you to do these:
1- remove the main hard drive and only connect "250GB lacie porsche hard drive".
and see is it recognized or not.
2- go to the bios (with pressing "delete key" at start of turning on) and navigate to power center.
then enable power saving mode.

I have the Lacie F.A. Porsche hard drive/usb2 connection. It has not been used for some time. I connected it to my computer, I have power as I see orange light(not flashing). But my computer cannot detect...

The disk-drive has malfunctioned.

Search online for a professional "data recovery service".
For a significant fee, they can repair your disk-drive,
just long-enough to copy your files to a new disk-drive.

If it still has a valid WARRANTY, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

If the warranty has expired, then open the case, remove the disk-drive, buy a new "compatible" disk-drive, connect it, and thus "revive" your external storage device.

Drive Full After Backing-Up Just Under 4gb of Files

Are you trying to create one giant zip file or something similar? It sounds as if your Lacie 250gb hard drive has been formatted with a FAT32 filesystem and you are running into the maximum file size limit of 4gb minus 1 byte. Try just copying your files without using any compression utility or try reformatting your Lacie 250gb hard drive with the NTFS filesystem instead.

Lacie 250GB changes date when copied

Unfortunately, when you copy a file, you are technically creating a new file hence it would assign the current day's date as the new date.

Lacie d2 HD Quadra 250gb

Lacie D2 drives in my experience are infamous for not having the most durable bridge boards. The bridge board is a chip that has a chipset on it which take the SATA or PATA connection and send it to the USB and or Firewire ports on the enclosure. If the drive is powered up, you should get a blue light on the front. When connected to either mac or pc ( porsches are MS_DOS formatted out the box ), if it does not mount or does not appear in DISK UTILTY, then it is a high probability that the enclosure/bridge board has failed and the drive ( if not making grinding, buzzing, clicking or beeping sounds) will have to be extracted and placed into a more stable enclosure.

Hope this helps.
