Question about Sony KP-46S25 TV

1 Answer

Sony KP-46S25 I have a Sony rear-projection TV KP-46S25. It was given to me from a customer. He said he thought it need a new power supply. When you try to turn it on you can hear it go" click, click" "click, click" but it doesn't turn on. I have a blown out fuse and was wondering if that could be the problem or is it something else?

You have to find the reason why the fuse is blowing. to do that you have to open the up the TV anyway. try another fuse and see if it burns. fuses blow because there is more current going through it than the fuse amperage can hold. it is probably a burnt resistor.

I have A sony kp=53v90 tmier stand by light falshes twice

Well I believe you are on the right thought pattern.
I beleive this is an older CRT rear screen projection TV.
Could just possibly be a Power supply issue or a bad HOT 'High Output Transistor.' It could also be a flyback issue.
Will need to be taken in to a trusted service shop to have it looked at. May be a time to look for a new TV. Sorry!
Blessings,

Something is preventing the power supply from operating:
Possible causes in order of likelihood:
1) Convergence amps failed overloading the supply (See if you can disconnect them)
2) High Voltage circuit has died. (Right on schedule if your TV is 10 years old)
3) One of the CRTs has shorted
4) The power supply itself has died (Is there a lot of dust covering it?)
See if you can isolate the failure by working down the list.
Hope Ya Fix it!

It sounds like you are going to need to have the convergence IC's replaced. Not really a hard job, but the job requires the proper tools, soldering skills, and a service manual to get the proper part numbers and to perform convergence alighnment in the service menu after the IC's are replaced. Good Luck

If everything else is fine-then the set needs to have the picture size adjusted. Sometimes this happens when there is a power spike. Otherwise you either have a voltage reduction on the curcit the set is plugged into, or your house. Or the power supply is gowing and not putting out enough juice to the set.
