Re: TV runs for a limited time, then goes to standby
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".
The LG 29FX5BLE appears to be a Korean domestic model. There are a number of possible causes for the auto shutdown as you have described. Assuming that this is a conventional single CRT TV, lets start with the vertical amplifier IC. This would be very near the 4 wires the goes to the yoke. This IC would have an aluminum heatsink and could be anywhere from 7 to 15 pins single inline package. The have been known to develop cold solder especially the Vcc pin. It may also be worth your while to trace the Vert B+ line to the resistor diode from the secondary of the FBT.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Main power regulator board fault too can cause this flashes.

blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator
blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function.

In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
How many times do this standby light flashes at one time switch ON? Count it. These flashes are fault indications. From the number of flashes, you can get an idea about which section circuit inside it is faulty. After confirming it, If you wish to get more details of these blinking codes, check this link.
Of course it won't record if the TV is in standby as there is no signal. If you wish to record TV programmes without having the TV switched on, you need a freeview or freesat box for your Video Recorder. Hope this helps.
This is line output transformer problems. Before changing LOT,watch any dry soldering is there and also check vertical output ic is good or bad ?by replacement methode.
NOTE- if you know the protection pin, isolate the pin and switch on tv through 200watts bulb seriesly.then watch the symptomes.
AKB 66 in self diagnostic test means...TV goes to standby (shut-off) for AKB problem 66 times. AKB is White-Balance signal and it is not proper or maintained in your TV. So error signal produced and TV goes to shut-down state.
Regardnig Standby button, its available on remote only. If you push TV Power switch, TV will switch ON, push it again to OFF TV. Power Button on remote set TV in standby status and you dont need to push power button of TV itself.
