The keyboard has to be detected by the o/s [operating system]??_Which one!!?? Windows_xp:: goto START>CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER>LOOK UP KEYBOARD and see if 1) there are more then one listed (delete or uninstall one OR both of them)
On top of menu you'll see a picture[icon] of a monitor-keyboard-mouse (system) :""Scan for system changes"" _ press, then REBOOT.......... the system MUST look for and install the drivers for the new keyboard. If no drivers.... no keyboard..

I have compqq with 700 mhz proceccesor when i start it it give a keyboard error it is 304 keyboard

Try another keyboard. It's either the keyboard actually went bad or the PS2 port it's plugged into did. This unit is old enough if it's Windows 98 or 2000 on it a USB keyboard may or may not work.

Certain keys not working on zboard

remove the plug from the back of the motherboard (Purple)
Check the prongs inside of the male connector for damage and/or dirt.
all of those are TX and RX protocols which talk to your machine and send the events back and fourth.
If that does not work, it is due to water inside the mainboard of the keyboard. replace.

HP DV 2000 keyboard not responding on all keys. Laptop is 2 years old. Tried all usual remedies including keyboard replacement. Works on a USB plug in keyboard. Any ideas please

If a section of keys isn't working at all, you'll likely need a new keyboard.  If the problem is with IOPUJKL:M keys you may have the Numlock on.

Keyboard

I suggest you swapout the keyboard with one you know works right. If the keyboard works with the Acer than the other is defective. It wouldn't hurt to unplug & reseat your current keyboard just to make sure its connected correctly.
